Release information
This card was included in the Jungle expansion with artwork by Kagemaru Himeno, first released in the Japanese Pokémon Jungle expansion. In Japan, it was reprinted as an Unnumbered Promotional card with different artwork by the same artist and was included with the first volume of the manga series, How I Became a Pokémon Card released on May 22, 1999. This print has a color graphic of an open book with a trading card in place of an expansion symbol.

Trivia
The Japanese Unnumbered Promotional print is commonly known as Natta Wake Mankey in reference to the publication in which it was distributed. It is also the only glossy card released in conjunction with the series: the other five were printed on regular card stock. The text on the bottom of this print's card border reads: "Pokémon Card Books "How I Became a Pokémon Card" bonus card."
Origin
Scratch is a move in the Pokémon games that Mankey can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
