Another is a character in Pokémon Duel. He is Luca's AI assistant, and his twin AI is Carlo.

Personality

Another speaks in an irreverent tone, similar to a gangster, and values individualism and self-improvement. He places little value on friendship or trust, believing them to be facades for the personal gain of others - for instance, someone acting like a friend to a famous person due to their fame, not due to their personality or compatibility.

Plot

Another and Carlo are two halves of an advanced AI known as Gemini. Another is considered the "bad" half - preferring solitude and doubt - while Carlo is the "good" half - preferring friendship and trust. Gemini was developed for use in Pokémon Figure Game (PFG) matches by Number 7, who built upon an AI originally made by his father. Both halves of Gemini are considerably more advanced than normal AI devices used for PFG - Gemini possesses speech, thought, and adaptability resembling that of a human, as well as the ability to hack into computer systems and lesser AI devices.

Another first awakens in Luca's AI device after the Roger family kidnaps Luca's sister Tia, in an attempt to coerce Luca to obtain Carlo for them. Another is able to negotiate Tia's release in exchange for furthering Don Roger's goal of changing PFG for the better - however Another does not have Roger's interests at heart, and used the opportunity to let himself and Luca operate as free agents. Once alone with Luca, Another preys on Luca's insecurities to divide him from his friends Sharon and the player - suggesting that his friends only like him for his fame and social status, and not for him as a person. In place of camaraderie, Another suggests taking a solo path focused on self-improvement - to become the best PFG player alone, and change the game to his own ideal of it. Luca takes Another's advice to heart, and upon encountering his friends again at Elysium, greets them with coldness and mistrust.

As the player climbs Elysium to face Number 7 in a duel, Another prepares a trap for Carlo. Soon after the duel finishes, Another launches a cyber-attack against Jewel Tower, causing a blackout across the entirety of Carmonte Island and disabling all AI devices aside from himself and Carlo. Carlo is quickly able to deduce that only Another would be capable of such an attack, and since the two of them share abilities, Carlo attempts his own hack to undo the damage. He follows a trail intentionally left by Another, leading Carlo into a trap that erases his memory data. Afterwards, the blackout is ended, while Carlo reboots with no memories of the player.
