Sidian's Garganacl (Japanese: オニキスのキョジオーン Onyx's Kyojiohn) is Sidian's first known Pokémon. It is often seen outside its Poké Ball.
History
Garganacl and Coral's Glalie
Garganacl debuted in Reunion at the Ancient Castle! where it stood beside Sidian as its Trainer argued with Coral over their next assignment. In the next episode, Garganacl indiscriminately defeated most the Pokémon living at the old castle before being used to battle Liko and Roy. Captain Pikachu arrived in time to rescue them and Garganacl tried to hit it with Salt Cure, but Pikachu was able to avoid it and hit Garganacl with Volt Tackle, temporarily taking it out of the fight. However, when Coral recklessly commanded her Glalie to use Self-Destruct, much to Sidian's protest, Garganacl was unfortunately defeated by Glalie's attack which took itself out as well.
In A Challenge from the Explorers, Garganacl and Coral's Glalie battled together once again, facing off against Liko's Sprigatito and Roy's Fuecoco. As Garganacl focused on Sprigatito, Glalie focused on Fuecoco. Despite the type disadvantage it had, Garganacl was easily able to endure Sprigatito's attacks due to its sturdy body and keep the Grass Cat Pokémon at bay with its Salt Cure. Despite Sprigatito momentarily able to outspeed Garganacl with Quick Attack, it was finally hit with its Salt Cure. When Garganacl unleashed Stone Edge, Sprigatito's Overgrow Ability kicked in, allowing its Magical Leaf to push through it, landing a direct hit. Although Garganacl withstood the attack, Glalie smashed into it after Fuecoco's Stomping Tantrum sent it flying. The battle was then called off as Sidian and Coral were called away for a mission.
In the next episode, Garganacl battled alongside Coral's Glalie and Chalce's Medicham against the Black Rayquaza. Their combined attacks manage to temporarily freeze Rayquaza, but their efforts were interrupted by Liko, Roy, and Friede. Garganacl focused on Liko and Sprigatito, but they managed to outspeed them with Quick Attack. Once Dot managed to deactivate the Explorers's generator, the Black Rayquaza unleashed a Draco Meteor, which Garganacl and Sidian could only midly defend themselves against.
In HZ055, Sidian used Garganacl during his Elite Four Tag Battle match against Rika, where it battled against her Clodsire and Dugtrio alongside Tulip's Espathra. Garganacl ended up be being defeated after Sidian insisted on protecting Espathra.
In HZ058, Garganacl was used by Sidian in the battle against Dot and Quaxly. The battle ended without a winner after Dot decided to use the aroma of the new noodles and the salt that spread in the battle to attract new customers to Anything Eatery.
Personality and characteristics
Much like its Trainer, Garganacl has a very stoic personality, hardly expressing its emotions. Nevertheless, it is completely loyal towards Sidian, following his every command without question, as seen in Rivals in the Dark of Night! where it indiscriminately attacked every Pokémon in Diana's old castle upon being commanded to. Garganacl is Sidian's primary battler, and is quite strong, being able to withstand super-effective hits without much damage as seen in A Challenge from the Explorers. Even after being hit by Sprigatito's Overgrow-boosted Magical Leaf, Garganacl got back up without much trouble or damage, further showing its impressive durability.
