Captain Pikachu (Japanese: キャプテンピカチュウ Captain Pikachu), also referred to simply as Cap (Japanese: キャップ Cap), is Friede's partner Pokémon and his second known Pokémon. He sits in the chair on the bridge of the Brave Olivine, the Rising Volt Tacklers' ship, and is responsible for navigating it when Friede is not present. He is also co-leader of the Pokémon who belong to Friede's teammates and the group that live on the Brave Olivine. Captain Pikachu is usually seen outside his Poké Ball. He is a founding member of the Rising Volt Tacklers, which is named after his signature move.

History
Pre-series
As revealed in Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!, Captain Pikachu was living in the Paldea region, but dreamt of flying and kept trying to do so using his Volt Tackle. One day, Pikachu met Friede, who offered his friendship, but Pikachu didn't accept it. However, Pikachu changed his mind when Friede offered food and help in making his dream come true. After being able to fly successfully, Captain Pikachu accepted Friede's request to be his partner and was caught. Captain Pikachu's dream of flying using Volt Tackle inspired Friede to approach Ludlow and Orla about constructing the Brave Olivine and forming the Rising Volt Tacklers to fly around and explore the world, with Captain Pikachu being one of its founding members.
Captain Pikachu and Friede
In The Pendant That Starts It All (Part Two), Friede used Captain Pikachu to battle against Amethio after he and his group had boarded the Brave Olivine to coerce Liko to come with them. He battled against Ceruledge, but the battle was ultimately halted by Liko, who felt responsible for all the trouble happening around her. In the next episode, he once went up against Amethio's Ceruledge. This time, however, it was merely a distraction so that Liko could sneak around the Explorers' hideout for the moment and find her Sprigatito, who had been taken hostage by the group. Once they reunited, the battle ended with Friede and Captain Pikachu making their escape.
In Special Training with Cap!, Captain Pikachu partook in a training battle against Roy and Liko, going up against Fuecoco and Sprigatito. By using Double Team, Captain Pikachu avoided getting hit as his opponents attacked his duplicates, tiring themselves out in the process until they became unable to battle.
In Quaxly, We Can Do It, Captain Pikachu battled against a Trainer's Bisharp aboard a ferry. He and Friede were looking for Spinel and Liko's pendant when this Trainer recognized and challenged them. Despite this, the two Rising Volt Tacklers did not take long to figure out that this Trainer and the one they were looking for were not one in the same, and Captain Pikachu finished off his opponent quickly.
In Charge! Galar Mine!, Captain Pikachu participated in a battle against the Explorers. However, when a Galarian Moltres that had an Ancient Poké Ball appeared, Captain Pikachu battled it, but got injured. Fortunately, Captain Pikachu was rescued by Liko and Roy and left the Galar Mine in order for him to recover, while his Trainer and Charizard stayed behind to battle the Explorers. In the next episode, Captain Pikachu meet up with Friede at the Motostoke Pokémon Center, after recovering from his battle with Moltres. Captain Pikachu then battled Moltres again in order to calm it down, which they were able to do and the Legendary Pokémon return it to its Ancient Poké Ball.
Captain Pikachu and Charizard
In Reunion at the Ancient Castle!, Captain Pikachu stayed behind to guard the Brave Olivine while his Trainer, Liko, and Roy went to an ancient castle in Hammerlocke. In the following episode, he and the rest of the group arrived at the castle after Friede called upon them. Cap briefly battled Sidian's Garganacl and set off Coral's fury, which resulted in her commanding her Glalie to use Self-Destruct. He and his Trainer managed to barely escape the explosion and reunited with the rest of the Rising Volt Tacklers.
In Slip and Crash! A Mystery Pokémon?!, Captain Pikachu noticed an odd Pokémon, as he saw a strange purple liquid on the battlefield during his training with Roy's Fuecoco and Liko's Sprigatito. Later, Captain Pikachu found the Pokémon and discovered it to be a wild Polteageist. Hearing that Polteageist wanted to battle Shuckle, Captain Pikachu let them and invited some of the other Pokémon, including Murdock's Rockruff and Terapagos, to watch. However, the battle was called off, but Captain Pikachu and his friends welcomed Polteageist to the group, as they were joined by Fuecoco, Sprigatito, and Dot's Quaxly in the celebration.
In The Plan to Capture Rayquaza, Captain Pikachu fought against Spinel's Umbreon after getting trapped in a tower with him. By allowing Umbreon to send Cap crashing into a wall and then hitting the wall with Volt Tackle, Cap was able to create an opening that allowed Friede to escape.
Personality and characteristics
Captain Pikachu's "allergy" to being called cute
Captain Pikachu is often seen with Friede and shares a close bond with him. However, the two can disagree at times, which has led them to clash and butt heads with each other. Despite this, Captain Pikachu and Friede trust each other enough to know their intentions, as they would devise a plan, even though they would sometimes ad lib the plan. In addition to Friede, Captain Pikachu seems to be great friends with Charizard, as he enjoys hanging out with it and would usually train with it whenever they could.
Captain Pikachu is shown to be diligent and responsible, as he seems to take his position of captain seriously, being easily distinguished from the rest of his species for wearing a captain's beret outside of battles. Captain Pikachu is also intelligent and powerful, and has been shown to battle on equal terms with Amethio's Ceruledge several times. In Quaxly, We Can Do It, his intelligence was at full display, as Captain Pikachu managed to figure out from the battle style alone that his opponent was not the one he and Friede were looking for. Pikachu has also been shown to be independent, capable of battling competently without the need of a Trainer's commands. However, despite this, Captain Pikachu has shown to be friendly with both people and Pokémon.
As co-leader of both the Pokémon that belong to Friede's teammates and the group that live on the Brave Olivine, Captain Pikachu usually keeps things in order with both groups. Also, he is welcoming to new members, as shown in Slip and Crash! A Mystery Pokémon?!, when he with the Pokémon living on the Brave Olivine and some of his Trainer's teammates Pokémon welcome a wild Polteageist to the group. In addition, Captain Pikachu is protective of the airship, as seen in Found You, Fuecoco!, when he attacked Roy after he caught him sneaking around it.
Captain Pikachu has a habit of standing on his tail, especially when he is sitting on the chair at the captain's deck. As revealed in The Wild Pair, Friede and Cap!, Captain Pikachu has a kind of "allergy" when he is called "cute" or when this characteristic is noticed, he starts sneezing and ends up losing focus on what he was doing.
Captain Pikachu is characterized by usually wearing a sassy expression on his face.
