Vileplume (Japanese: ラフレシア Ruffresia, German: Giflor, French: Rafflesia) is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon.
Pokédex entries
- Pokémon Emerald
- In seasons when it produces more pollen, the air around a Vileplume turns yellow with the powder as it walks. The pollen is highly toxic and causes paralysis.
Name origin
Vileplume's name comes from a combination of vile and plumage. Its Japanese name is a corruption of the word rafflesia.
Vileplume, like Gloom, is based on the rafflesia arnoldii, a foul-smelling flower. This Pokémon more strongly resembles the flower than Gloom, which may represent the budding stage of the rafflesia.
