Chikorita (Japanese: チコリータ Chicorita, German: Endivie, French: Germignon, Korean: 치코리타 Chikorita) is a Grass-type Pokémon. Along with Cyndaquil and Totodile, it is one of the three starter Pokémon available at the beginning of the Generation II games. It is also available in Pokémon Emerald as an award for catching the first 200 Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex.

Chikorita comes with the Ability Overgrow, which increases the power of Grass-type attacks by 50% once the Pokémon has less than one-third of its maximum HP.

Chikorita evolves into Bayleef starting at Level 16, then into Meganium starting at Level 32.

Pokédex entries

Pokémon Crystal
It loves to bask in the sunlight. It uses the leaf on its head to seek out warm places.
Pokémon Emerald
It waves its leaf around to keep foes at bay. However, a sweet fragrance also wafts from the leaf, creating a friendly atmosphere that becalms the battlers.

Name origin

Chikorita's name is derived from chicory, a flowering plant.

Chikorita has similarities to sauropods.
