In Generation III, Sidney is the first member of the Hoenn Elite Four. He is an upbeat guy who enjoys what he does, even if he loses. His strategy is all-out offensive.

Japanese カゲツ (Kagetsu) Contains the word 影 kage, shadow, and Tsu, which means steal.
English Sidney Means "enticer", but was probably chosen for its similarity to sadness, sinister or insidious.
French Damien Could derive from demon.
German Ulrich Pun on Unlicht, German for Dark.
Italian Fosco Literally means dark, obscure.
Spanish Sixto Similar to siniestro, Spanish for Dark.
