Explotaro (Japanese: ) was one of the Pokémon that Gold has received in the Pokémon Special manga.

History

As a Cyndaquil, it partnered up with Gold to fight Silver when he stole Prof. Elm's Totodile. Gold kept it afterwards and nicknamed it "Explotaro". Explotaro evolved into a Quilava at the Goldenrod Daycare Center, and later evolved into its final stage, Typhlosion, battling Lugia at the Whirl Islands. As a Typhlosion, it gave Gold an upperhand while fighting Mask Of Ice at the end of the GSC arc. Around the end Emerald arc, it learns Blast Burn, which it used against Guile Hideout.
