(Japanese: アルセウス 超克の時空へ Arceus: To the Conquering of Space-Time) is the third Diamond & Pearl series movie and the twelfth Pokémon Pokémon movie overall. It is the last movie in the trilogy that started with The Rise of Darkrai and continued with Giratina and the Sky Warrior. It will premiere in Japan on July 18, 2009, coincidentally the 11th anniversary of the premiere of the first movie.
The movie was confirmed in Japanese cinemas in July 2008 at the end of the credits of its predecessor, Giratina and the Sky Warrior, with a teaser that showed Giratina, Dialga and Palkia ready to battle over ruins that resemble Spear Pillar. The same teaser was featured in the credits of the one-hour special of DP096 and DP097. The teaser can be seen on the Japanese website of the movie.
The movie director and producers went to Greece in August 2008 to use the country as a basis for the movie's fictitious setting. One of the locations they visited was Metéora.
A new trailer aired on December 4, 2008, which included a mysterious Pokémon hidden behind a question mark graphic. A week later, on December 11, 2008, a leaked photo from the December 15 (January) issue of CoroCoro revealed the Pokémon was a notched-ear Pichu. This leak also revealed the movie's title. The next day, the official movie website opened, and Pokemon.co.jp confirmed the notch-eared Pichu is female and is fond of Grepa Berries.
A calendar released at the end of December, 2008 featured the Pokémon from the three movies of the trilogy, with emphasis on certain letters in the Pokémon's names: Shaymin, giRatina, rEgigigas, pikaChu, gizamimi pichU, pAlkia, diAlga, daRkrai. When taken alone, the large red letters can be reorganized to spell ARCEUS, the last Pokémon in the National Dex as of Generation IV, and the star of the movie, as its creations, the legendary titans, are doing battle.
Also set to appear in the movie are the Johto starter Pokémon Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile. What their roles are as of yet are not known, though speculation has begun as to their role regarding a potential remake of Gold and Silver.
