Martonimos is not a fan of Pokémon. He has not touched a main-series game since Sapphire, which he played just long enough to get all the version-exclusive Pokémon for his jerk brother's Ruby (the last game he can honestly say he enjoyed would be Silver, after which he believes the series started to decline). The most recent game he's really played at all is Pokémon Ranger, which was admittedly fun, yet too short and too underdone to really get him back in. He only got it originally so he could transfer Manaphy to his jerk brother's Diamond game.
As you can probably tell, Martonimos cares about his jerk brother. Well, OK, that's a lie. But at the very least, he cares enough to help him fill his Pokédex every time the kid gets a new game. Martonimos's time with the Metroid and Castlevania game series has instilled him with a sense of completionism; even if he's not playing the game, whoever is had better play the whole damn thing.
Anyway, as part of his quest to help his brother, Martonimos once went online to look stuff up. He happened to stumble across Bulbapedia. While the encyclopedia was one of the prettiest and best-maintained he had ever seen (he had worked on Wikitroid before, which could best be described as a complete mess), he did spot a few spelling errors. His attempts to correct them were thwarted by the annoying but ultimately logical complete ban on anonymous edits. So he took the five minutes to make an account, corrected the mistakes, and moved on.
Then he found some more mistakes. And some more. And then he realized that several of the pages had the move U-turn spelled as U-Turn, corrected every single one of those, and he was trapped.
Over time, Martonimos got more involved with the Bulbapedia community. He was surprised by how much people edited their userpages and how much time they spent at each other's throats. He tried to combat these things by setting a good example; being courteous and working on the 'pedia more than his own page (when the great Userspace ban rolled around, he didn't have much choice). Over time, his actions did get the attention of others as he integrated more into the community, even making an account at the bulbagarden forums. So one day, some idiot nominated him to become an admin, a bunch of other idiots voted for him, and finally, the grand poobah who resides over all the idiots granted him administrative powers, as well as a warning not to go crazy with them.
Not long after this, Martonimos started growing sick of trying to get a wiki full of aggressive pubescents to play nice with each other. To make matters worse, the other administrators started acting more hostile, creating even more conflicts that Martonimos felt obligated to solve. After a situation revolving around one user that Martonimos originally gave an eight-day block in accordance with the image reversion policy, which soon ballooned into a complete clusterfuck involving most to all of the administrators (including one who doesn't even fucking exist), Martonimos felt it was time to move on to greener pastures.
He didn't. Although he spends much more time contributing to TFwiki than Bulbapedia now, he found his addiction was difficult to break. As such, he's still hanging around, and, while you may have more luck with the other admins, he'll still help you out if you need it.
