The Beginning
You have finally started Pokémon Platinum! You go through the opening credits.Giratina cries out its call and then you press 'A' or the 'START' button on your Nintendo DS. Then,Professor Rowan appears on the screen and asks if the you need any information. If you do, select the info you want. After that, Professor Rowan tells you to touch the ball to open a PokéBall. A Buneary pops out. After that, Professor Rowan asks you to select your gender and name.
- NOTE: You cannot change your gender nor name later on in the game so choose wisely.
Then you can choose the name of your rival. There are defalt names for your rival but you can choose your own name if you want. Now, let's jump into the world of Pokémon!
Twinleaf Town;Fresh and Free!
Ah, Twinleaf Town. That's where we will start the game. You are watching the TV in your room. Professor Rowan is telling about how important it is to care for Pokémon. Then the televison show ends. You should go downstairs. Your mom then tells you to that your rival was looking for you. You begin to leave but then your mom stops you again. She tells you not to go into the tall grass. Right now you don't have your own Pokémon, so it's not safe for you to go in the grass. Then, she lets you leave. Keep going straight until you hit Route 201. Notice that you see snow on the ground. The climate has changed since you last saw it right?
Route 201
Eventually, you see you rival on Route 201. He runs up to you and tells you about a plan to get Pokémon. He tells you that if we run really fast and move to the next square before any Pokémon come out, we can get to Sandgem Town in no time! Then, he begins to move back and starts to run towards the grass. Before he can get there, Professor Rowan stops him. Professor Rowan asks what is the meaning of running into the tall grass without Pokémon. Both the rival and Professor Rowan are silent. Then, Professor Rowan asks two questions about Pokémon. You should answer yes to both of them, otherwise you won't go forward in the game. Then Professor Rowan ponders to himself and then soon allows you to choose a Pokémon!
Choosing a Pokémon!
Finally! The time has come to choose a Pokémon! The Pokémon you can choose from are Piplup, the water type, Chimchar, the fire type, and Turtwig,the grass type. Piplup and Turtwig will give you a type advantage for the first gym, while Chimchar will give you a challange. Your rival will always choose the type advantage over you.
After that, Dawn/Lucas come up after the Professor and state that he forgot his briefcase at the lake. Professor tells you and the rival that if they ever needed anything, don't be shy to stop by his lab in Sandgem Town. He walks off. Dawn/Lucas says sorry folks and walks after the Professor. Your rival turns to you and runs towards you, it's now time for your first battle!
Your First Battle!
Your first battle with your rival will be on Route 201.

If the player chose Piplup: Template:PartyHeader Template:PartyBody41 Template:PartyFooter Don't worry about your HP for your Pokémon. Your Pokémon knows 2 moves. An Attack move and a Stat move. If you pick the right moves, you will be successful in your first battle.
After the battle, you will go home and talk with your mother about going to Sandgem Town. Then she will then give you Running Shoes.
To Professer Rowan's Lab
When you reach Route 201, your rival will ask you to go to the lake where you played with him when you were young with him to capture the legendary Pokémon that lives in the lake. Once you reach there you will a man, then he will leave. After he leaves you and your rival will hear the cry of the Pokémon.
