Card Key
The Card Key (Japanese: カードキー Card Key) is a Key Item that is used to open certain doors blocking a players path in buildings. It is featured in Generation I, II, III and IV.
Locations and uses of the Card Key
Generations I and III
The Card Key is found in Silph Co.'s head office building while under siege by Team Rocket. It is used to open doors on various levels of the building that the player was unable to pass before. It is found on the ground in a small corridor on the fifth floor, a rarity among Key Items, most of which are given to the player as part of the storyline. The Card Key does not exist in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.
Generation II
The Card Key is obtained by the rescuing of the manager of the Radio Tower. The manager gives the Card Key to the player in order to open a door on the third level of the tower while under siege by Team Rocket.
Generation III
Another Card Key appears in Pokémon Colosseum. It is needed to get into the east wing of the Shadow Pokémon Lab.
Generation IV
The Galactic Key is a variation of Card Key found in the basement of the Galactic Warehouse section of the Team Galactic HQ in Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. It is used to open certain doors allowing access to the main part of the building.
