The Radio Director (Japanese: きょくちょう Director) is the head of the Radio Tower in Goldenrod City. In Generation II and IV, Team Rocket invaded the Radio Tower in an attempt to control its broadcasts, in order to contact their former leader Giovanni. The player encounters what initially appears to be the director in his office; however, this "impostor director" is merely a member of Team Rocket in disguise. The real director is eventually rescued by the player, having been kidnapped by Team Rocket, and gives them the Card Key so they may ascend to the fifth floor and defeat the leader of Team Rocket, effectively disbanding the organization. To express his gratitude for having been rescued, the director will give the player either a Rainbow Wing (Pokémon Gold and HeartGold), a Silver Wing (Pokémon Silver and SoulSilver), or a Clear Bell (Pokémon Crystal).
