Aegis Cave (Japanese: ばんにんのどうくつ Watchman's Cave)is a Dungeon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2. It is segmented into several sections, home to each of the Legendary Golems.
The player's team first enters the cave with Team Charm, consisting of Lopunny, Gardevoir, and Medicham. There are countless Unown in the dungeon, and defeating them will occasionally yield the player a stone shaped like the Unown they defeated. To progress further in the dungeon, I, C, and E stones must be collected, where they open up the room where Regice waits. In the second chamber, the stones R, O, C, and K must be collected to open the room where Regirock awaits. In the third chamber, the stones S, T, E, E, and L must be collected to gain access to Registeel's room. After progressing through the Deep Aegis Cave, the player's team and Team Charm do battle with Regigigas and a group of Hitmonlee and Bronzong.
It should be noted that which Unown appear in which chamber is random. For instance, the first chamber contains Unown whose stones are required to unlock the other two chambers. There is no restriction against these stones being carried to the chambers in which they are needed. The stones have no practical use outside Aegis Cave, cause 60 points of damage if thrown onto a Pokémon and can be sold for 10 Poké. Those that do not open the rooms of Regirock, Regice and Registeel have no other use at all.
