Paul's Magmortar (Japanese: シンジのブーバーン Shinji's Booburn) is a Pokémon owned by Paul. Paul chose it to replace his Chimchar as the Template:Type2 Pokémon of his team after he released it.
It first debuted in Lost Leader Strategy! as a Magmar where it appeared in a flashback. Reggie explained to Ash that it easily defeated Maylene's Lucario which earned him the Cobble Badge.
It made its first real appearance in Aiding the Enemy!, sleeping with Paul's other Pokémon.
Magmar was finally shown battling in Paul's match against Pyramid King Brandon in A Pyramiding Rage!. It was the first Pokémon chosen by Paul to battle him. He quickly recalled it after he saw Brandon chose Regirock to battle it. He sent it out again to battle Registeel but was soon called back. After all of Paul's Pokémon were defeated, Paul sent out Magmar to battle Regirock again, where it was finally subdued.
Magmar's evolution was revealed in Pedal to the Mettle! when Paul chose Magmortar to battle Ash's Pikachu. They begun the battle in Evolving Strategies!, where Pikachu got badly burned because of Magmortar's Flame Body before Ash recalls it and sends out Buizel. Despite a type disadvantage, Magmortar was able to hold its own (in fact was only pushed back slightly from Ash's Buizel's Aqua Jet and Pikachu's Iron Tail) until it was recalled by Paul.

Trivia
- Like Torterra, Weavile, and Honchkrow, as well as Drew's Flygon and Absol, Magmortar appeared under the ownership of a rival character after its appearance in a movie.
- Magmortar is the 4th Pokémon owned by Paul to be voiced by Bill Rogers, the other three being Honchkrow, Weavile, and Chimchar.
- When Paul released his Chimchar in Glory Blaze!, he said: "Obviously I need to get a new Fire-type." This probably indicates that Paul hadn't caught Magmar by the time and captured it somewhere between Smells Like Team Spirit! and Lost Leader Strategy!.
- Like its counterpart, the Electabuzz family, it also evolved only once under Paul's care, much like Paul's Elekid did.
