WTPT - Pokémon Radio
WTPT - Pokémon Radio is the most popular Pokémon podcast as of today, hosted by long-time Pokémon fans Keith "KC" Smith and Joseph "Jowy" Romano, both from Brooklyn, New York. The podcast is available on iTunes and usually released once a week.
'W' is the first letter used in the call letters for US radio stations East of the Mississippi river and "TPT" stands for "The Pallet Tribune" (Originally called "The Pokémon Times"), which is also the name of the web site that hosts the podcast. The site's features include news, fan art, blogs, and a chat room.
History
Podcast
WTPT is the podcast the site was made to accompany. It is updated approximately every two weeks.
Hosts
KC and Jowy have appeared on other video game podcasts including MyGamer.com's Radcast Audio Blast and Gamestation Radio. Both hosts have journalism backgrounds: KC has a degree in journalism and Jowy was the Executive Editor of his college newspaper.
Site
The main site is the homepage of the WTPT podcast. On the right there is a navigation menu that leads to the TPT forums, Oekaki, Chat Rooms, Competitions, store and donation button. There is also a box showing the current fortnight question, contest, and featured store product. On the left there is a TPT Twitter feed and an RSS feed of the Latest Videos. At the top there are menus that lead to the Home page, various features, news, site announcements, WTPT Radio/TV, and a subscription link.
News
The news is updated periodically and keeps listeners updated in the world of Pokémon. They can deal with any topic relating to Pokémon, including contest results, special events, and inside info.

The Tall Grass
Run by moderator BigRedLax, this weekly-updated webcomic features pokémon humor. The name derives from KC's closing catchphrase at the end of every podcast: "Stay out of the Tall Grass!"
Ask Annie
Ask Annie is a question-based feature article run by Annie. users send usually non-serious questions to her, and she picks her favorite and answers them.
TCG Top Ten
This is a recurring article made by WaterRangerLara about the Pokémon TCG. It goes into depth about the top ten cards from certain sets, such as Base Set, Fossil, or the "Neo" sets.
- First article, talks about the top ten trainer cards from sets 1-3.
- Second Article, talks about the top ten cards from the Neo sets.
Countdown to Platinum
Countdown to Platinum was a set of three articles made by Ducky-von-Karma in the weeks before Pokémon Platinum came out, detailing known information in a humorous way.
- Article One, WiFi, detailed new features of online play.
- Article Two, WiFi Plaza, overviewed the Wifi Plaza and its features.
- Article Three, Characters and Setting, discussed the changes ion character design ond changes within Sinnoh from DP to Platinum.
Chatting
On "TPT", there are three forms of chatting. The first one is called "Chat Rooms", running on the Ajax Open Source Web Chat. Here fans can type to other people live and send them messages, smilies (themed as different pokémon), and surprises. Here is where many people make new friends to talk to, battle, and become friends with. The second form of chatting is the "WTPT Live", where fans can talk to people live using microphones and cameras. Through this, they can actually see and hear who they are talking to. WTPT Live is currently being reworked. The third and final form of chatting is the TPT forums.
Forums
With the upgrade to TPT 2.0, The Pallet Tribune added a vBulliten forums system. Here, members can make an post on threads about various topics about things relating to the forums, Pokémon, and pretty much anything else.
Competitions
WTPT has a variety of competitions. Its most major one, called the WTPTC, is usually held quarterly. Occasionally, additional tournaments are also hosted, such as one on TPT Day, the anniversary of WTPT's creation. Another form of competitions on TPT is ladders. In these ladders members can battle one another to get points, and everyone is ranked against each other by points, the top person recieving a digital medal. There are currently five ladders on TPT:
- The Ally Cup
- This is a ladder for 4 vs. 4 double battles in DPPt. It is currently in its first season, or reset in member points for the specific ladder.
- The Brawl Cup
- This is a ladder for fights in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is in its first season.
- The Sippy Cup
- This is a ladder for lvl 1, unevolved baby pokémon battles. It is in its second season.
- The Unown Cup
- This is a ladder for the lvl 100 UU side of Pokémon battling. It is in its second season.
- The Ho-oh Cup
- This is a standard OU lvl 100 ladder. It is in its second season.
