Section Two: Sandgem Town to Jubilife City
Route 202
When you first reach the start of Route 202, Lucas / Dawn will give you 5 Poké Balls and show you how to catch Pokémon. Then you are off, having some of your first battles in the game. This is the first route where you can battle trainers. There are three, Youngster Tristan with a Lv5 Starly, Lass Natalie with two Lv3 Bidoof and Youngster Logan with a Lv5 Shinx.

Jubilife City

Continue on to Jubilife City, where Lucas / Dawn is waiting, to tell you that your rival Pearl is at the Trainer School. You then go to the trainer school where you meet Pearl. You give the parcel, and containing inside the parcel are 2 town maps. You receive one town map. Pearl then leaves for Oreburgh City. The two trainers can be fought on the top left hand side of the school. They is School Kid Harrisson, with a level 6 Abra, and School Kid Christine, also with a level 6 abra. After you battle them, you can receive Hidden Power from the boy. As you leave the school, a man would come and talk about the Pokétch. He says to bring 3 coupons from clowns around the city to receive one. The clowns would ask simple questions and after you get it right, you receive the coupon. After you do that, return to the man to receive the Pokétch. Then you may receive the Old Rod from the fisherman inside the building west of Jubilife City. The following items are available in Jubilife City:
- TM10 (Hidden Power): Obtained after defeating School Kids in Trainers' School.
- Quick Claw: Obtained from girl on ground floor of Jubilife Condominiums.
- Town Map: Obtained from rival after delivering Parcel to him, in the Trainers' School.
- Old Rod: Obtained from fisherman in guardhouse.
- Fashion Case: Obtained from a Jubilife TV employee after defeating two Galactic Grunts.
- Coupon 1: Obtained from clown located between Poké Mart and Pokémon Center.
- Coupon 2: Obtained from clown located in front of the Pokétch Company heeadquarters.
- Coupon 3: Obtained from clown located in front of the Jubilife TV Station.
- Pokémon Watch: Obtained from inventor of the Pokétch after handing him all three coupons.
Route 203
Now head east towards route 203 where you would meet your rival and challenge him to battle. His party would occupy of the starter at Lv.9 (the opposite type of the one you chose) and a Lv.7 Starly. Then after the battle, go along the path battling the trainers along it.

Oreburgh Gate
Enter the cave on the east and you will find yourself in Oreburgh gate. The Hiker at the entrance would speak to you and give you Rock Smash. Then fight the two trainers inside the cave. Geodude and Zubat can be found here. The following Pokémon are available here immediately:

Oreburgh City
When you enter the city, a Youngster would show you to the gym. You will meet your rival but he will announce you are too late to battle the gym leader Roark. You may enter the mine when ready and speak to Roark. Roark would then leave. You may battle the other workers inside the mine if you want to. Onix is an addition to Geodude and Zubat which can be found here. Then you may battle the gym, or go around the city to talk, train or receive items from others. After the battle, you would receive the coal badge and TM76, Stealth Rock. Now head back to Oreburgh Gate and you will meet Pearl again and he would tell you you need to go back to Jubilife City and then go north, to go to Eterna City, because you need a bicycle to go the fast way.
Jubilife City
At Jubilife City, you would meet Dawn and Professor Rowan with two Team Galactic grunts. They have a Lv. 9 Zubat and Wurmple. Dawn would have the starter the one your starter is good against. After the battle, you would encounter a man who gives you a Fashion Case and tells you the TV station is open. You may go inside the TV station if you want where trainers can be battled and a mask of your starter Pokémon will be received.
