Release information
In Japan, this card was released as an unnumbered BW-P Promotional card as part of the Original Customization Jumbo Card campaign in participating Lawson stores. In order to obtain it, it was necessary to create an online account with Lawson via their promotional Pokémon website. From there, people could select one of the three cards available and add a nickname for the owner (up to 5 characters), and a name for the attack already detailed on the card (up to 10 characters). A voucher detailing the entered information could then be printed off or saved to view on phones ready to be presented at participating Lawson stores. The specifications as per the presented voucher would then be printed onto the actual card. Up to three cards could be customized for each account.
The period for registration and card customization was open between October 29, 2010 and December 13, 2010. The period in which to exchange the vouchers for the cards in stores ran from January 1, 2011 until January 7, 2011.
The English version of this card was available in the Outstanding Oshawott Box, released in September 2011. With no campaign behind the release of this card, the owner name and attack name are left blank should one decide to personalize the card themselves. The English version is also a lenticular image, which gives the circular pattern of the background a 3D appearance.
Trivia
- This card was only released as a Jumbo card and is therefore not legal to use in tournaments or official events.
- The Japanese version of this card, along with the other two released in the same campaign, are the only mass-produced cards to feature printed personalization. The only other cards to feature personalization are the Japanese Battle Road trophy promotional cards awarded between 2000 and 2002, which were limited to the top ranking players of each regional tournament and the finals.
- The lenticular image used on the English version is a first for the TCG outside of Japan. Previously the only lenticular image card was that of Sky-Splitting Deoxys' formes from the Movie Commemoration VS Pack: Sky-Splitting Deoxys.
Origin
This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Black.
