Release information
This card was included in the Sword & Shield expansion with artwork by Kouki Saitou, first released in the Japanese Shield expansion. A Non Holofoil version was included in the Sword & Shield Build & Battle Box.
A Cosmos Holofoil version of this card with the Sword & Shield expansion logo in the bottom right corner of the artwork was given away in various countries to celebrate the launch of the set on February 7, 2020. In the United Kingdom, it was given to customers who purchased at least £10 worth of Pokémon Trading Card Game products at participating WHSmith high street stores[1]. In Belgium and the Netherlands, it was given to customers who purchased at least €10 worth of Sword & Shield-related TCG products at participating Game Mania stores. In France, it was given to customers who purchased at least €20 worth of TCG products at participating PicWicToys stores. In Germany, it was given to customers who purchased at least €10 worth of TCG products at participating MyToys, Smyths, and Müller stores. In Ireland, it was given to customers who purchased at least €10 worth of TCG products at participating Eason stores. In Italy, it was given to customers who purchased at least €9.99 worth of TCG products at participating GameStop, Prénatal, and Toys Center stores. In Spain, it was given to customers who purchased at least €10 worth of TCG products at participating stores. In Chile, this card and a Jumbo Snorlax V were included with any TCG purchase made from Big Bang Entertainment between August 5 and 31, 2020.
It was reprinted as a Full Art Secret card in the Vivid Voltage expansion with different artwork by aky CG Works, first released in the Japanese Amazing Volt Tackle expansion. It was reprinted again as one of the SWSH Black Star Promos with different artwork by Hasuno and was available in the Champion's Path Pin Collection—Spikemuth Gym from November 13, 2020. This print was subsequently available in the Japanese Shiny Star V subset. A new print with artwork by Ryuta Fuse featuring the Shiny version of Obstagoon was included in the Shining Fates expansion, which also saw release in the Japanese Shiny Star V subset. The Sword & Shield print was reprinted, alongside a new Full Art Secret card with artwork by GOSSAN featuring Piers, in the Japanese VMAX Climax subset. The Full Art Secret print was later included in the Astral Radiance expansion.

Origin
Obstruct is a move in the Pokémon games that Obstagoon can learn. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Shield. The Vivid Voltage and Shining Fates prints feature the Shiny version of Obstagoon. Piers is featured in the Astral Radiance print's illustration, who uses an Obstagoon in all games in which he appears as an opponent.
