The McDonald's Collection (Japanese: コレクションシート 旅立ちの仲間 Collection Sheet Journey Partners) is a collection of cards released in North American McDonald's Happy Meals for a limited time, from 17 June to 7 July, 2011. The cards were released alongside the 2011 McDonald's promotional Pokémon toys. In Japan, the collection was the first BW era release of Pokémon trading cards.
Information
In Japan, the Journey Partners Collection Sheets were themed around the three first partner Pokémon of the fifth generation: Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott; and each sheet contained three cards. The nine cards featured one from each type, and all the cards were holographic with artwork by Ken Sugimori. However, when released in English, three additional cards were added: Maractus, Alomomola and Audino, totaling twelve cards. Each card came with one of eight toys, based on Pikachu, Oshawott, Tepig, Snivy, Zorua, Zoroark, Zekrom and Reshiram.
Trivia
In the Canadian province of Québec, the collection was only available in French, making it the only TCG collection in the province to be released as such (previous special promotional sets, such as the POP series and Battle Road promos, had been in English). This was despite the cards not having been translated into other European languages and not having been released in European countries (including France) at that point.
