Release information

This card was included as both a Regular card and a Full Art card in the Vivid Voltage expansion, first released in the Japanese Amazing Volt Tackle expansion. Both prints feature artwork by Saki Hayashiro. A Jumbo version of the Regular print with the Vivid Voltage expansion logo on the right side of the artwork was available in various countries to celebrate the launch of the set. It was given away at participating Intertoys stores in the Netherlands from November 13, 2020 with TCG purchases worth at least €10. In the United Kingdom, it was given away with TCG purchases worth at least £10 at participating GAME stores from December 4, 2020. Special bundles that included Pikachu V were also available through their online store from the same date. In Chile, The Big Box stores began to give away this card with purchases worth at least CLP$20,000 from December 22, 2020.[1]

It was reprinted as one of the SWSH Black Star Promos with different artwork by PLANETA Tsuji and was available in the Shining Fates Collection—Pikachu V from February 19, 2021. The collection also included a Jumbo version of this print. In Japan, this print was released as one of the S-P Promotional cards and was available as part of the PikaPika! Pikachu! Promo Card Campaign!, which began on September 18, 2020. For every six Amazing Volt Tackle booster packs purchased in one transaction at participating stores, customers would receive a Promo Card Pack containing one of five possible cards. Customers could also receive five of these Promo Card Packs for every Amazing Volt Tackle booster box purchased per transaction.[2] The promotion ran for as long as stocks lasted. The Japanese version of this print has the campaign logo on the right edge of the artwork. The Vivid Voltage Regular print was reprinted in the Japanese VMAX Climax subset alongside a Character Secret Rare print with artwork by Ryota Murayama. The VMAX Climax Character Secret Rare print was later included in the Lost Origin expansion.

Trivia

Origin

Charge and Thunderbolt are both moves in the Pokémon games that Pikachu can learn. Red is featured in the Lost Origin print's illustration, who uses a Pikachu in the majority of games in which he appears as an opponent.
