Normally, Whismur's voice is very quiet - it is barely audible even if one is paying close attention. However, if this Pokémon senses danger, it starts crying at an earsplitting volume.

Release information

In Japan, this card was released as both a Holofoil and Non Holofoil ADV-P Promotional card at participating 7-Eleven stores as part of the Pokémon Fair campaign, which ran from June 25, 2003 until stocks lasted. Customers who purchased a bottle of Coca-Cola Vanilla, Sprite Classic, Ambasa Sour White, Fanta Fruit Punch, or Fanta Melon Soda were given one of 21 possible cards. The English release was made available at Target snack bars with the purchase of an Icee or Arctic Blast in February 2004. A Holofoil version was later available in one of the four EX Deck Tins, released on October 25, 2004. This print does not have an area for the Dot Code strip, whereas the Non Holofoil version has both its area and a Dot Code strip.

Trivia

The Non Holofoil version of this card was the last Nintendo Black Star Promo to have a Dot Code strip. The modified border was used on the following Ludicolo promo, but did not include a Dot Code strip due to it being a Holofoil card.

Origin

Supersonic and Pound are both moves in the Pokémon games that Whismur can learn. This card's e-Reader Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Ruby.
