Release information
This card was released as a promotional card. In Japan, it was released as a special card by All Nippon Airlines throughout August and September in 1999 with artwork by Toshinao Aoki. Passengers flying in conjunction with the "Pokémon Getaways" campaign could redeem their boarding passes for a two-card set that included Moltres and Zapdos. Trivia
The initial print of the Wizards promo erroneously credited Toshinao Aoki as the illustrator, who illustrated the Japanese promo. Wizards rectified the error, with subsequent prints correctly crediting Naoyo Kimura as the illustrator. However, the change was brought about close to or after the release of the film, so it is likely to assume fewer people received the correct version later into the campaign compared to those who received the misprint earlier.
Origin
This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Yellow, though it is reworded.
