Undubbed character This article is about a character featured in the Pokémon anime who has not yet debuted in the English language dub.
As such, their information may contain romanized Japanese names, rather than dub names.

(Japanese: カベルネ Cabernet) is a C-class Pokémon Connoisseur and the character of the day in BW019. She is Cilan's rival and is voiced by 葉山いくみ Ikumi Hayama in Japanese.

Cabernet worked in a lavish Poké Mart that lies somewhere between Pinwheel Forest and Skyarrow Bridge. She called Ash over who was waiting in a long line to see an S-class Connoisseur. Once Cabernet got his attention, she immediately pulled him inside her stall and asked him to show her his Pokémon so that she could see how compatible he was with them. But she seemed to find something wrong with each of them. Her actions towards the Pokémon caused each and every one of them to attack her. She diagnoses that Ash is not compatible with any of his Pokémon and demands that he replace them immediately.

Suddenly, Cilan and Iris interrupt the session to see what Ash is doing. Cabernet screams and points at Cilan as she recognizes him. She then explains that she challenged the Striaton Gym a while back and chose Cilan as her opponent. He was able to defeat her Oshawott with his Pansage. Ever since then, she wanted to have revenge against him. Cabernet went on to study on how to become a Pokémon Connoisseur. When she felt she was ready, she went back to Striaton City to re-challenge Cilan and was furious to find out from Chili and Cress that he had left to travel. Cabernet battled Chili instead and won the Trio Badge.

Cabernet challenges Cilan to a two-on-two Pokémon battle and uses her Dewott and Sawsbuck. Before the match started, she makes Cilan promise that he will accept her diagnosis that Ash is incompatible with all of his Pokémon and that he will have to let her replace all of them. Cilan agrees to this much to Ash's dislike. Both Dewott and Sawsbuck were easily defeated by Cilan's Dwebble and Pansage, respectively. In the end, Cabernet decides to leave the Poké Mart to travel on her own. She vows that the next time she and Cilan meet that she will defeat him.

Pokémon

Dewott
Debut BW019
Voice actors
Japanese Megumi Hayashibara

Cabernet obtained Dewott when it was just an Oshawott. It lost to Cilan's Pansage in a gym battle a long time ago. She later uses Dewott to battle Cilan once more, only this time it battles with his Dwebble. It had good offensive attacks but could not break through Dwebble's strong defense. It quickly became fatigued, and Dwebble defeated it with a Shell Smash and X-Scissor combo.

Dewott's known moves are Water Gun, Fury Cutter, Water Pulse and Razor Shell.

Sawsbuck
Debut BW019
Voice actors
Japanese Kiyotaka Furushima

Sawsbuck is what Cabernet refers to as her "vintage". She used it to battle Cilan's Pansage but it was overwhelmed by Pansage's speed combined with repeated hits with Bullet Seed, and finally knocked out by a powerful SolarBeam.

Sawsbuck's known moves are Horn Leech, Jump Kick and Megahorn.

Trivia

  • Cabernet's name comes from Cabernet Sauvignon, a grape most commonly used to make red wine. Her name may be a reference to real-life sommeliers who work with wine.
  • Cabernet's Connoisseur catchphrase is "Bonjour! Tasting time s'il vous plaît!"
