The following is a list of areas & items in DPPt that are initially beyond your reach but become accessible later after obtaining the appropriate HMs and/or the National Pokédex. Note that this does not list areas that are only visited after a needed HM is (or should have been) obtained.

Most of these also require defeating the Elite Four first.

Other

  • The president of the Pokétch Company in Jubilife City gives you a new Pokétch application after you obtain one, three, five, and seven gym badges.
  • After all eight Gym Badges are obtained, Mr. Goods in Hearthome City will give you a Gym Statue for your secret base.
