Rug (Japanese: ラグ Rug) is a character in the Pokémon RéBURST manga.

Character

Rug is a wandering bandit notable for her manipulative personality. She is more than willing to use others to accomplish her own goals, but will also directly work to get what she wants, including by using the capabilities of her Burst form, Purrloin.

After Ryouga returned the Purrloin Burst heart to her, it has been hinted that she may be developing feelings for him, as she even goes on to get closer to Ryouga and discuss about him with Miruto.

History

Rug first appears in Mysterious Beauty, Rug. She is seen spying on Ryouga's group, and later recruits several men from a saloon to aid in an attack on them, fully intending to only use them to wear Ryouga out so she can steal his Burst heart for a bounty. However, when she attempts to steal his unattended Burst heart along with the Compass of Light, Karuta intervened. Rug engages Karuta in battle using her Purrloin Burst, who then uses his Accelgor Burst. As the battle went on, Rug was able to distract Karuta long enough to use the Lovestruck Capture on him. She then commanded him to attack Ryouga to which he followed. While Karuta battled Ryouga, Rug watched them, hoping that they will tire each other out so that she can steal their Burst hearts. However, while Ryouga was defending himself, he fired the Lightning Perfect Wave at Rug instead, causing her to drop the heart and release Karuta from her control.

Following her defeat, Yappy took her Burst heart to which Ryouga returned. Rug then decides to join Ryouga's group, and has often been seen bickering and engaging in Burst battles with Karuta.

Purrloin is Rug's only known Pokémon. Rug uses Purrloin to Burst, allowing her to use the abilities that Purrloin possesses.

Burst

As a user of Burst, Rug can use many of the abilities of the Pokémon she combines with, her Purrloin.

Known techniques

• Lovestruck Capture (Japanese: 恋心捕獲, literally Awakening of Love Capture; read as メロメロキャプチャー Mero Mero Capture). Rug lures in her opponent with her charms and seizes her opponent's heart. Using the heart, she takes full control of her opponent. This technique loses its effect when the heart is broken.
