Unlike Jimmy's Typhlosion and Vincent's Meganium, it doesn't seem to be used as often, only appearing once as a Croconaw during The Legend of Thunder!.
Marina uses Wani-Wani after Little Pink is defeated in her battle against Jimmy. Jimmy then calls Beedrill back and use his Typhlosion to battle against the Template:Type2 Pokémon. Marina is shown during the battle to be in sync with Wani-Wani's actions. Despite type disadvantage, Typhlosion manages to stand up to Wani-Wani's attacks.
Wani-Wani later makes a cameo with its Trainer in the beginning of the movie Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea.
Sinnoh
It was revealed to have evolved into a Feraligatr during an internet broadcast of a Pokémon Contest in A Stand-Up Sit-Down!. It used Aqua Tail in an appeal round in conjunction with Little Pink during a double performance in Hearthome City.

Trivia
- The nickname Wani-Wani either comes from ワニノコ Waninoko, Totodile's Japanese name, or just from the Japanese word for crocodile, 鰐 wani.
- It is the only starter from The Legend of Thunder! that wasn't in its final form in its introduction, as Jimmy's Typhlosion and Vincent's Meganium are.
