OK, so I thought about it a bit more and believe this should be 4 parts:
#Story quotes, where all story text goes.
#Battle quotes, where all text from declaring an attack to after the battle will go.
#Monthly quotes, where text used at the very start of the month goes, like when thives atack or when the fireworks are used.
#Delegation quotes, where text for using a facility or when being delegated is put.
Names can be changed as needed, but this should cover all the characters quotes in the game (even wifi events)[[User:TrainerX493|TrainerX493]] ([[User talk:TrainerX493|talk]]) 10:51, 23 February 2013 (UTC)

Yellow Trainer Sprites

There is an extremely lack of Yellow non-species sprites both in the archives and in usage throughout the Internet. As I searched google, I could not find one site with the unique Yellow Trainer sprites. That being said, I have whipped back out my Yellow ROM and am capturing Trainer sprites, removing backgrounds with Pixen, and saving them as PNGs to upload onto Archives so that we can have the Yellow Trainers. For example, Brock looks different in Yellow than in RGB, GSC, or FRLG (though the second two sets are a bit obvious). The GSC Red and GSC Blue sprites are based upon the Yellow sprites, but the colours are different. Jessie and James are ONLY in Yellow. These sprites should be here, but they're not. So I'm taking the liberty of joining Project CharacterDex to sprite out Yellow's trainers. Satosuke 19:00, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Guide for Character Articles

I suggest there should be some sort of guide on the project page on how to write, order and format Character articles to keep them all looking neat and consistent. I've noticed a lot of the articles I've edited, that the Headings are often not all in the same order: sometimes "In the animes" is before "In the games", otherwise after; or Names is put subheading under Trivia... I can never tell what is correct. However, if there already is an existing guide somewhere, please tell me where.

Um...

You can't really have this template on a talk page for reasons shown below--Pokemonguy1 Pikachu! 05:54, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Templates are hard to maintain on talk pages

Two questions: content order and missing character

So I was browsing Team Magma and Aqua character articles, and I see that Maxie's headers go Game, then Anime, and Archie's go Anime, then Game. Maxie's seemed far more appeasing with that order, so I wound up switching Archie's headers, and I think it's better for it. So why /isn't/ the default that Games come before Anime?

Sure, the old argument is "people are looking for the anime sections first" but I don't think that's true. Nor calculable. In some cases, where the templates for the game characters get incredibly out of hand (rivals), it's easier to put the anime section on top; otherwise, it would get lost among the tables and load-time. Except load-time won't make a difference: either you're stuck waiting for it to load so you can scroll twice/thrice, or hit END and scroll up a few times, so it's also not about lag.

I do think game characters (for those that can) should have their game biographies before their anime one. It's the natural order, in most cases. Games precede anime, and both precede manga.

Also, didn't we have an article for the "tip giver" guy found in every gym? I swore we did. Was it deleted? Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 03:29, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I've always wondered that. For game characters who appear in the anime, they appeared in the game first, so we should put it that way in the article. And that guy is called the caretaker. He has an article. It's not quite orphaned, but not many pages link to it. — THE TROM — 03:35, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
For the headers, it doesn't really matter what order. Just that they're all the same. But Psy has the last say in this, not me. R.A. Hunter Blade 03:38, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for taking over MY job for this guys. --PsychicRider 03:39, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
You're very welcome. That's why I said you have the last say. :D R.A. Hunter Blade 03:42, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
After two edit conflicts, my say. Personally, it honestly doesn't matter to me. But if it has to be consistent with all other pages, I'd go with anime, games, and manga like it is already. But for cases of rivals or anything with long sections, I'd put anime before the games. However, they'd also have to be consistent, so rivals or other pages with long sections get that treatment only. All other pages, I'd say anime, games and manga if applicable. If someone complains about it, I'll try to compromise. Plus there's a navigation bar for sections long sections like that so if they're not happy they can use that. They'd be better and more helpful for that. --PsychicRider 03:54, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Appearances

Should we add a list of apearances for anime, manga and games? Just to know when they appeared. We could do it in a box. And at the top of the box we could do a category (anime, pokespe, games ETC). So what do you think? Lunick v sonela 11:41, 20 September 2009 (UTC)

About some of the Gym Leader's Pokemon . . .

It has been bugging me that some of the abilities of Gym Leader's are "Unknown". Well this is just a suggestion. For people who can, their is an Action Replay code that can make it so you can steal other people's Pokémon (I can't do it because mine doesn't work). What someone can do is steal a Gym Leader's Pokémon that doesn't have a known ability on Bulbapedia and figure it out that way.

WARNING: SOME GLITCHES MAY OCCUR AND IF YOUR DS, GAME, OR ACTION REPLAY BREAKS I CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR I HAVE GIVEN YOU THIS WARNING. IF NOBODY CAN DO THIS IT IS ONLY A SUGGESTION ON HOW TO FIGURE OUT THE ABILTIES. THANK YOU

-- Landfish7 23:28, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Yep. I already do that. But if you could tell me the ones that are still missing other than HGSS, that'd be nice. --Psyライダー 23:52, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
Oh, please. Why resort to stealing? An easier way to do this would be to hack a Master Ball into your pocket, then set a wild encounter code for Porygon and a level modifier code for something high, then catch the first Porygon you see that has Trace. Catch yourself a few low-level sacrificial lambs you can use to repeat Trace with every Pokémon. Do this with each and every one of the gym leaders. --Shiningpikablu252 02:09, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but that's the less fun way to do things. And even so using your strategy which still involves cheating, I'd like to know what set of them are still not known. --Psyライダー 20:00, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Instead of me finding out which one's are uknown, YOU can. Go to each Gym Leader's page and see which one has an ability that says Unknown. Then if you don't know how to enter the abilty's name into the coding just make a subpage on your userpsace called "User:PsychicRider/MissingAbilties" or something similar and we'll check it out and put it in ourselves. :) -- Landfish7 22:19, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Why did you come here to tell us this, if you you weren't going to at least tell us where you saw them which made you come to us, to help us out. I got it, Lazyfish. Don't worry about it. I'll find it for you, so I can make your life easier. --Psyライダー 19:42, 28 October 2009 (UTC)
o_O . . . I . . . I didn't mean to sound offending. My Action Replay currently won't function so I couldn't do this. So I decided to get help from other people in the Bulbapedia community. I understand now that you wanted ME to do find which ones are missing so it could be a team job. For your convenience I'll make a subpage called User:Landfish7/MissingAbilities and make a checklist for what needs to be figured out. Again sorry for offending you in any way, shape, or form. :( -- Landfish7 19:41, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
Awkward~ Mostly cause I noticed this like 17 days after you made the post, it's fine. I just figured you had seen one and it remind you of this so you came here to tell me us so we could fix it, that's all. And I found the ones that were missing. Trainer's Abra and evos always have Synchronize, and Rhyhorn wasn't that hard. --Psyライダー 00:11, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Trainer Classes in General

Gym Leader intros

A user has recently been rephrasing the intro sections of the Gym Leader articles. Here is an example. I personally prefer the old structure, but what does Project CharacterDex think? --SnorlaxMonster 13:02, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Allow me to explain myself. An original intro is phrased like this: (Japanese: カミツレ Kamitsure) is the Gym Leader of Raimon City's Gym, known officially as the Raimon Gym. She specializes in Electric-type Pokémon. She gives the Bolt Badge to Trainers who defeat her.
THAT IS BAD, BAD, BAD! Saying "_______ is the Gym Leader of _______ City/Town/Village's Gym" is EXTREMELY redundant. No one really cares what the Gym is officially called to begin with, as well, again a redundant and irrelevant thing to state. If it must be included in the intros, it should at least show where the player can find him/her, something I attempted with MY versions of the intros. Stating the tpye the Leader uses is necessary, and so is the Badge they give. Stating these as two separate sentences sounds FAR too choppy to me, hence I combined them into one. In a perfect world, I'd like to state the EXACT rewards you get (badge + TM), but these vary by game, so I'll live with just stating the badge.
Here is how I'd state the above intro, as I had done originally on the Kamitsure page I took this particular example of the old version from: Kamitsure is the Raimon City Gym Leader. Players may battle her in the Raimon Gym. Kamitsure specializes in Electric-type Pokémon, and she gives anyone who defeats her a Bolt Badge.
This shorter, cleaner-sounding intro still states everything as the original intro did, but it's less wordy and isn't packed with so much irrelevant information. I also used the terminology usually used in the games and even in the anime, saying "Kamitsure, the Raimon City Gym Leader", rather than "Kamitsure, the Gym Leader of Raimon City's Gym".
I apologize to everyone for any difficulties I have caused. I'm just trying to do, as we all are, the best for the Wiki. And if we truly want to be the best, we won't accept the poor, redundant, irrelevance of the old intros. If, for some reason, we decide to stick with the old intros (why is everyone against change?), then here is a list of pages I've changed with the new intros, excluding Kamitsure, which has been reverted (>_>):
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience and any rude behavior I may have demonstrated in this process. I really want to be a strong contributor to this community, and forgive me if I started off with far too large of a leap to do so. - The Pokémon Master 20:09, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I prefer the new version. —darklordtrom 20:12, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
I like the new version too. When you think about it, the old version is actually redundant...Ataro 20:32, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
I now do see problems with the old version, but I still think the new version could use some improvements. It should either link to the Gym name or not mention it at all, and if it stays should share a sentence with the first line. And "anyone who defeats him" sounds quite strange, I would prefer Trainers be used here.

Current:
Lt. Surge (Japanese: マチス Matis) is the Vermillion City Gym Leader. Trainers may challenge him in the Vermillion Gym. Lt. Surge specializes in Electric-type Pokémon, and he gives anyone who defeats him a Thunder Badge.

Suggestion:
Lt. Surge (Japanese: マチス Matis) is the Vermilion City Gym Leader, thus the leader of the Vermilion Gym. Lt. Surge specializes in Electric-type Pokémon and gives the Thunder Badge to Trainers who defeat him. --SnorlaxMonster 08:27, 7 December 2010 (UTC)

A link to the Gym portion is necessary; omitting that from the top of the page is a grave mistake. And it would definitely be "Trainers who". Though imo, a better way to say the last line would be "...and he gives those who defeat him a Thunder Badge." Luna Tiger * the Arc Toraph 14:09, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
Saying "thus the leader of the Vermillion Gym" makes it VERY redundant. Stating the player may find him there in another sentence fixes that. There's nothing wrong with the phrasing of the last sentence in the new version I created. A NOTE TO EVERYONE, SINCE THIS ERROR IS COMMON ON MANY PAGES, NOT JUST GYM LEADERS: Only add a comma to join two facts if there is something that makes it a full sentence all ready as a part of what you're combining. Say "He uses Electric-type Pokémon, and he gives anyone who defeats him (which is true) a Thunder Badge." NEVER say "He uses Electric-type Pokémon, and gives anyone who defeats him a Thunder Badge." I know several users are going to continue to fight for the old intros and their survival. Anyone who wants to follow the Wiki's mission statement, however, would read my previous explanation as to why I changed the intros in the first place and see that I'm actually correct in changing them. - The Pokémon Master 20:49, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
While you are correct that it is redundant stating he is the leader of the city then stating the name of the gym, making it two sentences does not fix this. Two sentences is just as bad (and probably worse) than one. You are correct that the comma shouldn't be there, I missed that. If you dislike 'Trainers', 'those' is also a viable option. 'Anyone' infers that it is a common event, whereas 'Trainers' bears no such inference; 'those' has a slightly infers that it is an uncommon event. Even if you decide to keep the first two sentences your way, you need to include a link to the Gym if you are going to name it, and badges need to use 'the', not 'a' or 'an'. --SnorlaxMonster 14:06, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Question

Hello. I'm quite new to this website, and a question dawned on me;

Do characters have their eye color and hair color included in the character template? I've seem some with the description, and some without. What is the correct format for this? Voldelalune (Talk) 23:13, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
As in for all characters or for coding? Characters with identifiable eye/hair color should have them on. And I forget the coding, but it can be copied and pasted D;. --P S Yライダー 23:21, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
I could easily figure out the coding. I just didn't know if the actual information should be placed. I do now. :) Voldelalune (Talk) 20:55, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
