This card was included in the Secret Wonders expansion, first released in the Magmortar Half Deck of the Japanese Magmortar vs Electivire Deck Kit. A Holofoil DP-P promotional print of this card was released in Japan as part of the DP Card Exchange campaign in November 2007.

Fire Punch and Smog are both moves in the Pokémon games that Magmar can learn. The Japanese name of Fire Punch is spelled ほのおパンチ rather than ほのおのパンチ as in the video games. This card's Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl.
