Klutz (Japanese: ぶきよう Clumsy) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Prior to Generation V, it was the signature Ability of Buneary and Lopunny.
Effect
In battle
Generation IV
Klutz prevents the use and effects of the held item of the Pokémon with this Ability.
Klutz does not affect items which affect prize money, experience or effort values, such as the Amulet Coin, Lucky Egg or Power Weight. The Speed drop from the Iron Ball is not negated by Klutz. It has no effect on the Soothe Bell or Everstone.
It has no effect outside of battle, so items such as the Cleanse Tag and Scarves are not affected.
Klutz does not prevent the user from using Fling.
Generation V onward
Klutz now prevents the user from using Fling.
Klutz does not prevent the Pokémon with this Ability from Mega Evolving with a Mega Stone or using a Z-Move with a Z-Crystal.
Outside of battle
Klutz has no effect outside of battle.
