The Prism Scale (Japanese: きれいなウロコ Beautiful Scale) is a type of held item introduced in Generation V. It allows Feebas to evolve into Milotic.

Effect
Held item
Causes Feebas to evolve into Milotic when traded while holding it. This consumes the Prism Scale.
This item was introduced in Generation V due to the lack of a means to increase Beauty in these games. However, even in games in which the Prism Scale exists, a Feebas can still evolve if leveled up while its Beauty is high enough.

In spin-off games
Detective Pikachu
A Prism Scale appears during Chapter 4 of Detective Pikachu, being worn by Milo Green on his headband. He mentions that he obtained the scale when he was once saved from drowning by a Pokémon, which is later revealed to have been a Milotic. The presence of this Prism Scale also acts as the trigger to the evolution of a Feebas that Milo has befriended.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series
In Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team, Blue Rescue Team, Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness, and Explorers of Sky, due to the lack of the Beauty stat in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series and the fact that the Prism Scale didn't exist at the time, the games instead require the original item the Beauty Scarf for Feebas to evolve into Milotic.
Trivia
- In Pokémon Black and White, the Prism Scale was incorrectly categorized in the Bag as a general item rather than a held item. This was corrected in Black 2 and White 2.
- In Generations VI and VII, when sorting items by type, the Prism Scale is sorted with valuable items rather than evolution-inducing held items.
