Some Pokémon display natural traits related to the Game mechanics that cannot be transferable or negated by any means, usually as an exception of said mechanics. This article focuses on those that affect Battles.

In the main games

Shedinja

Shedinja will always have 1 base HP regardless of Level, Effort values and consuming HP-enhancing items. Although Shedinja can eat Dynamax Candy, its HP will remain at 1 regardless when it Dynamaxes.

In Generation IV, Shedinja immediately recovers from poison (instead of losing health) outside of battle after four steps.

Ground Embedding

Due to being embedded in the ground, some Pokémon have special interactions with certain mechanics.

Signature moves

Dragon Ascent's animation displays a different coloration when used by a Pokémon other than Rayquaza. When used by Mega Rayquaza, it also features a longer animation.

Hyperspace Fury and Dark Void (in Generation VII) can only be successfully used by Hoopa Unbound and Darkrai (or a Pokémon that has transformed into them) respectively.

Dynamax Restriction

Zacian, Zamazenta, and Eternatus cannot Dynamax. Eternatus is able to Eternamax instead, but the transformation cannot be used by the player.

In the side games

Mystery Dungeon Series

In the TCG

In the Pokémon Trading Card Game during Generation IV, Arceus and Arceus LV.X cards had a special rule that allowed the player to have more than four copies of these cards in their deck.
