Marcellus

Marcellus (Japanese: ハチロウ Hachiro) is a character of the day who appeared in Octillery the Outcast. He lives in Scarlet City on Red Rock Isle.

Shortly before the Whirl Cup Competition began, Marcellus approached Ash and his friends, requesting a battle. He wanted his Remoraid to evolve into an Octillery so he could have a strong Pokémon for the competition. Misty accepted the challenge and pitted her Corsola against Marcellus's Remoraid. She ended up losing, and Marcellus's Remoraid evolved at the end of the battle.

The next day, after the preliminary qualifying rounds, Ash and the others noticed Marcellus appeared to be sad. He revealed that he lost the preliminaries and was now out of the competition. He then invited the group over to his house for dinner. That night, he explained the reason why he lost: he had been distracted by his tank full of Remoraid, who were treating his newly-evolved Octillery differently.

Team Rocket then arrived and stole all of the Remoraid with their vacuum truck. However, Octillery left an ink trail, allowing Marcellus and the others to track the trio down at a port, where they rescued the Remoraid. After saving Octillery from falling, all of the other Remoraid evolved into Octillery themselves and subsequently inducted Octillery back into their group, pleasing Marcellus.

He reappeared in a flashback in Dueling Heores.

Marcellus has multiple Octillery that all evolved from Remoraid he collected from different seas. They all reside in a giant aquarium tank inside Marcellus's Scarlet City mansion.

The first one that evolved initially appeared as a Remoraid in a battle against Misty, with Marcellus hoping it would evolve in time for the Whirl Cup. Misty sent out her Corsola to battle it, but Remoraid defeated it, evolving into Octillery as a result.

The next day, Marcellus approached Ash and his friends, where he revealed that his other unevolved Remoraid were acting strange towards his new Octillery, using their Water Gun to push it away. Later that night, Team Rocket stole the Remoraid and escaped just when Marcellus noticed them, but his Octillery went after them and left a trail. Octillery took on Team Rocket, headbutting them around until it smashed through the tank containing the stolen Remoraid, freeing them. The Remoraid then freed Octillery from Team Rocket's crane and softened its landing with their Water Guns. Afterwards, Octillery sent Team Rocket blasting off with an Octazooka attack.

The experience and teamwork prompted the remaining Remoraid to evolve at the same time, and Marcellus's first Octillery and the newly evolved ones became friends again.

Octillery's only known move is Water Gun; one of them also knows Surf and Octazooka.
