Sarah Natochenny is an American actor, voice actor, and film editor. She has been the voice of Ash Ketchum and many others for the English-language dub of the Pokémon anime since 2006.
Biography
Natochenny lives in Manhattan, New York City, New York. She studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. As an actress, film editor and fashion model, she has appeared in international magazine editorials, done several independent films, done a weekly improv show in New York, and walked in NY Fashion Week shows in fall 2008. She speaks fluent Russian, and is learning German and French.
When she first auditioned for the dub, she feared the backlash of her replacement as Ash and living up to her performance, especially since she herself "has the utmost respect for her" and thinks "she's really fantastic at what she does".[1]
Natochenny joined the anime starting with the redub of The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon, replacing Jamie Peacock (and by extension Veronica Taylor) as Ash. Since then, she has also voiced numerous other roles in the series.
She was featured in the Vanity Fair video "How Pokémon Is Dubbed From Japanese To English", posted in March 2020, where she explained how the anime is dubbed.
Her favorite Pokémon are Mew and Pikachu, and her favorite character to voice is Buneary.
