Base camps (Japanese: ベースキャンプ base camp) are locations established by the Galaxy Team Survey Corps throughout the Hisui region. They serve as areas to heal their party, access their pasture, purchase or sell items, store items, craft items, and update the Pokédex. They also serve as fast travel locations once activated.

Features

Reporting new Pokédex data

The player can report new Pokédex data to Professor Laventon located at every base camp. After the report is finished, Laventon will give the player the option to return to Jubilife Village or to continue their expedition. He will offer these options even if the player has no new data to report.

Healing and resting

The player can either speak to the Galaxy Team member or interact with the tent to rest. The player can choose to rest for just a little while, or until morning, midday, evening, or nightfall.

Buying items

Items can be bought at any base camp from the Galaxy Member. In order to gain access to the full inventory, the player must complete all requests from Tao Hua.

Base Camp Galaxy Member

Pastures

Main article: Pasture

The player can conveniently access their pastures without returning to Jubilife Village by speaking to the Galaxy Member at any base camp.

Craftworks

Every base camp has a crafting bench, which functions like the Crafting Kit key item, though it allows for players to craft with items found in their item storage as well.

Storing items

There is an item storage at every base camp for the player to manage their items.

Trivia

  • During the post-game of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pesselle of the Medical Corps muses that Base Camps would feel safer if they had roofs. Given the similar functions of the Base Camps and the modern-day Pokémon Centers, Base Camps could be considered the direct predecessor of the Pokémon Centers featured in the core series.
