== Flinging TMs in BDSP == | |||
Tested it out with a friend, you can't use a TM as your Fling item in BDSP. Which is kind of annoying, but makes sense considering you also have access to the Grand Underground and a functionally unlimited amount of Iron Balls. Flinging Balls
Since they're not listed, should I assume trying to use Fling while holding any sort of Pokeball causes the move to fail?--PikamasterADV 02:19, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
Lost for good?
Do you get the item back after the battle? If so, it is automatically re-equipped to the pokémon, or does it go back into your Bag? ~ Serial Colour 02:04, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
Berry
When flinging berries, the effect goes on the opponent or the user? ht14 17:38, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
- I would suspect the opponent, since the user is discarding the held item. Kevin Y (talk) 17:58, 23 May 2009 (UTC)
Wifi battles
Do you lose the item you fling in wifi battles too? Or is it just in-game? Flyingtypefan 03:13, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- No, you recover the item you fling after wifi battles, but the flung item is gone for the rest of the battle. A person wrote this at 01:00, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Dread Plate/Blackglasses
If you use Fling while holding Dread Plate or Blackglasses, do they still boost its power by 20%? Dragoness 06:36, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
This is exactly what I want to ask, too. Will the power boost occur? - Pokémon Questions? -- 01:11, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
Gem
What about the 17 Gems?--- Pokémon Questions? -- 01:16, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
This can't be right...
This page says that Fling will fail if the held item is not listed there. However, Lady Celeste often flings her rare candy. Tk3141 23:18, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
Marowak and Fling
Putting competitive use aside, if a Marowak holding a Thick Club uses Fling, would Marowak's attack remain doubled during the attack, or is its attack halved before calculating Fling's damage? Brilliance360 (talk) 18:56, 12 February 2013 (UTC)
Research
This page needs major research. This Article should be Bublapedia's major priority. The valuable items are not listed here and how damage they cause and the rare candies. And the items that have effects on battles like gems and plates. There should be a stub template on this article.Gelato Gelato (talk) 11:04, 27 March 2013 (UTC)Gelato Gelato
- Stub template is for short articles, but there really should be the incomplete template.--電禅Den Zen 11:51, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- The valuable items from Gen IV and prior are here, under the 30 power list. Plates are also already listed (90 power), and it's clearly mentioned that the move fails if a Gem is held. It lists "all Vitamins" as 30 power, and our Vitamin article includes Rare Candy, so I assume Rare Candies are 30 power. So the only thing you listed that's missing are the Gen V valuable items. Please read the article more carefully before you demand things. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:50, 28 March 2013 (UTC)
Generation VI
Hey, I decided i would help fill in the chart for which pokemon can learn this in Gen VI, but I can't fill out every pokemon. Am I still allowed to edit this? Zaffre (talk) 03:19, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
- Anyone can edit. Contribute what you can; there's not any sort of information quota you have to meet to make an edit. Neal Cruco (talk) 02:51, 11 January 2014 (UTC)
Item order
I think that the items within each cell of the table should be in alphabetical order. The way it is now, it is difficult to find the power of the move for any specific item. Mangaman13 (talk) 21:22, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm guessing there's a reason for the order; I just don't know what it is. In the meantime, you could use control+F. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 21:48, 2 March 2014 (UTC)
Trivia?
Could this be good trivia? In Pokėmon rumble the move fling throws money for damage. Musicjax (talk) 22:57, 7 April 2015 (UTC) Never mind I will put it in this other section. Musicjax (talk) 22:58, 7 April 2015 (UTC)
Mega Stones
The Article says it will fail if used by a user holding a Mega stone that they can use to mega evolve with, so does that mean a Greninja holding a Absolite would be able to fling it, and what is the power of the stone thrown? Or is this a typo and no mega stone regardless of holder can be fling? Yamitora1 (talk) 11:23, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
Just tested Fling with Absolite and the Blue Orb, and both failed (using a Pelipper, BTW). I've edited the article accordingly. We still need to test the following items: Discount Coupon, Strange Souvenir, Sachet, Whipped Dream, Luminous Moss, Safety Goggles, Snowball, Weakness Policy, Ability Capsule, Lumiose Galette, Shalour Sable. If anyone wants to test those, great. Otherwise I'll come tidy them up in a week or two. Seafarer (talk) 04:58, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, obviously I wasn't paying attention. Mega Stones do get flung. Reverting. (Not orbs, though) Seafarer (talk) 05:42, 28 January 2016 (UTC)
Fling and TMs
In Generation IV when Pokémon could still hold TMs, what was the effect of Flinging a TM? Does it fail? If not, what was the base power? Shawn (talk) 20:30, 15 June 2016 (UTC)
Z-Crystals
I just tested Fling using both a Normalium Z then a Snorlium Z, with a Pikachu that does not have any Normal moves. In both cases Fling Failed. "Fling will fail if used by a Pokémon holding a Z-Crystal that it can use to perform a Z-Move.", Is incorrect.
I would correct it myself but I wont do any editing unless I get some kind of go ahead from whomever oversees things like this. I am currently playing both Sun/Moon(Ver. 1.1). Feel free to email me any about any thing that needs to be tested. I favor accuracy.- unsigned comment from Squarefist (talk • contribs)
- You don't need permission to correct something that's incorrect. (If you're interested, you might want to confirm that Mega Stones still work the way they used to.) Nescientist (talk) 20:13, 17 January 2017 (UTC)
Quick Powder
In an SOS battle, a level 30 Ditto used Fling against my level 100 Jolly Scizor and outsped it. I suspect Flinging Quick Powder gives the move priority. Honiberri (talk) 09:15, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
- A transformed Pokémon copies all of the stats of the Pokémon it has transformed into. If the Ditto had transformed into your Scizor, it would have had the exact same Speed stat as your Scizor (since Quick Powder doesn't apply while transformed), so which Pokémon moves first would be determined by chance. --SnorlaxMonster 11:27, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
About Mental Herb's effect as Fling projectile
So, the article states that when you use Mental Herb as fuel for Fling, it heals multiple statuses from the target (namely Infatuation, Taunt, Encore, Torment, Disable and Cursed Body). However, there's other sources out there stating that it heals infatuation and nothing else. Is the information in the article here at Bulbapedia actually accurate, or not? Lunos (talk) 13:21, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
EDIT: I tested it myself on Ultra Sun, and certainly, Fling+Mental Herb does clear up each of the aforementioned statuses. Lunos (talk) 14:44, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
- The sources are outdated, Mental Herb used to cure only infatuation but was buffed. Eridanus (talk) 14:47, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
Fling, Mental Herb and Heal Block
Mental Herb lifts the effects of Heal Block, which prevent the affected battlers from healing for 5 turns.
There's no mention of Heal Block in Fling's effect's page here in Bulbapedia, so I need to ask; does a Mental Herb used as fuel for Fling lift the effects of Heal Block, or not? Lunos (talk) 14:09, 13 November 2021 (UTC)
- Checked in Gen 5 and 7, and I can confirm that a flung Mental Herb will cure Heal Block. --SnorlaxMonster 01:28, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
About Fling and Unnerve
> Unnerve prevents a Pokémon holding a Berry from using Fling.
Is that really true though? It doesn't seem to be the case in neither ORAS nor USUM. I did some tests myself, and Unnerve never prevented my Pokémon with an Oran Berry from using Fling, neither when it had Unnerve, nor when it was the opponent who had it. Lunos (talk) 22:11, 23 January 2022 (UTC)
To clarify, when I say that "Unnerve never prevented my Pokémon from using Fling", I mean that the move was perfectly executed from beginning to end and damage calculations were performed successfully. By all accounts, the move worked normally.
