Release information
This card was included in the Base Set, first released in the Japanese Expansion Pack. It was reprinted in the Base Set 2 expansion.
In the Scarlet & Violet Series, this card was reprinted in Holofoil with its original Base Set artwork in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic. This reprint re-categorizes the card as a Supporter card, thus making it subject to the corresponding Supporter card rules. It also lacks a regulation mark, and is thus not legal for tournament play.

Trivia
- This card has an identical effect to the Supporter cards Professor Juniper, Professor Sycamore, and Professor's Research. However, any number of Professor Oak cards may be played in a single turn, whereas the player can only play one Supporter card per turn. This is no longer the case with the Pokémon Trading Card Game Classic reprint of this card, which categorizes it as a Supporter card.
Origin
Professor Oak is the resident Pokémon Professor of the Kanto region.
