Information
EX Emerald is the name given to the ninth main expansion of the EX Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. It does not have a main expansion as a Japanese equivalent. It is based on Pokémon Emerald, featuring Generation III Pokémon. It was released on May 9, 2005. EX Emerald is composed of the Japanese Gift Box Emerald, Quick Construction Packs, Master Kit, and several PCG-P Promotional cards.
EX Emerald was the first English expansion to include Holofoil Basic Energy cards, which replaced the Reverse Holofoil in every third pack of a booster box. The Reverse Holofoil in this expansion featured foil Poké Ball and star pattern.

Languages this set is released in
The EX Emerald set is released in English, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese, with cards also available as Reverse Holofoils. The non-holo Uncommons in the German, French, Italian, and Portuguese sets are available with two different codes at the bottom-left; the non-holo Commons in all available languages have three different codes available. It's unknown why the English non-holo Uncommons only have a single distinct code, yet the German, French, Italian, and Portuguese non-Holo Uncommons have two available codes, which is unique to the EX Emerald set. The purpose of these different codes in general is still unknown, but occurred throughout the first halve of the EX era.
