It was reprinted using the e-card format in Japan in the Pokémon VS expansion. This print was later included in the Aquapolis expansion, previously released in the The Town on No Map expansion.
This card was reprinted with new artwork by the same artist in the EX Ruby & Sapphire expansion, which originated from the Japanese Treecko Constructed Starter Deck. In Japan, it was reprinted in the Flygon, Salamence, and Mirage's Mew Constructed Starter Decks. The Mirage's Mew Deck print was reprinted in English in the EX Legend Maker expansion. It was reprinted again in Japan in the Lucario and Mightyena Quarter Decks of the Gift Box Mew • Lucario and in the Movie Commemoration VS Pack: Sea's Manaphy.
During the Platinum Series, this card was included in the Platinum expansion, having been released previously in the Galactic's Conquest expansion in Japan. It was reprinted in Japan as a Holofoil DPt-P Promotional card given away at the March 2009 Gym Challenge. Rainbow Energy was re-released for HeartGold & SoulSilver with new artwork by Kent Kanetsuna, originating from the Japanese SoulSilver Collection. In Japan, it was reprinted for the Leafeon Deck of the Leafeon vs Metagross Expert Deck. It was later reprinted with new artwork by 5ban Graphics in the English XY expansion, first released in the Japanese Collection X.
In the XY Series, it was reprinted in the BREAKthrough expansion, previously released in the Japanese Blue Shock expansion. A Cracked Ice Holofoil XY-P Promotional print of this card was one of the gifts available in Japan as part of the Stand out from your rivals! 2016 Start Dash Campaign, which ran for a limited time at participating stores starting December 26, 2015. Customers who purchased at least ¥2,000 worth of eligible TCG products received a free Pokémon Coin Set featuring Pikachu, Manaphy, and Shaymin coins, as well as an additional gift determined by lottery. Possible gifts comprised a Campaign Original Card Case, a Campaign Original Match Record Book, or 1 of 2 promotional cards. Trivia
- This was the first Holofoil Energy card.
- Rainbow Energy had its own Energy symbol, , prior to the HeartGold & SoulSilver print. This was changed to a symbol congruous to the print's updated effect.
- The Celestial Storm prints do not list an illustrator, but due to the artwork being recycled from the earliest prints, it is assumed to be Takumi Akabane.
