The gates play the same music as in the Generation I games.

Changes from Generation I games and their Generation III remakes:
* The Badge man's house (Cerulean City) still plays the Cerulean City Theme like in Generation III, instead of the Pewter City Theme like in Generation I
* The Safari Zone was replaced by the GO Park, which plays its own music theme instead of the Evolution theme like in Generations I and III
*: The GO Park theme starts like a faster version of the Evolution theme from earlier games, and later plays some notes from Battle! (Trainer Battle)
* The Power Plant plays the Rocket Hideout theme like in Generation I, instead of the Pokémon Mansion theme like in Generation III
* All the Elite Four rooms in the Indigo Plateau now play The Final Road
* The Hall of Fame room now plays the Congratulations! music theme

  • The Indigo Plateau lobby now plays Pokémon Gym instead of The Final Road
  • The Hall of Fame room now plays the Pallet Town Theme instead of the Pewter City Theme (it is a slow version of the music theme in both cases)
  • The Sevii Islands were introduced, reusing some music themes introduced in earlier games

"To Bill: Leaving Cerulean City" is also played during Professor Oak's speech at the start of a new game.

The gates play the same music as in the Generation I games.

Changes from Generation I games and their Generation III remakes:

  • The Badge man's house (Cerulean City) still plays the Cerulean City Theme like in Generation III, instead of the Pewter City Theme like in Generation I
  • The Safari Zone was replaced by the GO Park, which plays its own music theme instead of the Evolution theme like in Generations I and III
The GO Park theme starts like a faster version of the Evolution theme from earlier games, and later plays some notes from Battle! (Trainer Battle)
  • The Power Plant plays the Rocket Hideout theme like in Generation I, instead of the Pokémon Mansion theme like in Generation III
  • All the Elite Four rooms in the Indigo Plateau now play The Final Road
  • The Hall of Fame room now plays the Congratulations! music theme

Trivia

  • In Generation I, the Route 17 is programmed to play "Road to Cerulean City: Leaving Mt. Moon" like several other routes, but this music theme cannot be legitimately heard on this route, because riding the Bicycle is mandatory on the Cycling Road, overriding the route theme with the Cycling theme.
