June 30 to July 31, 2020

This Wild Area News event focuses on Steel and Rock-type Pokémon.[13]

For the first few hours after this round of news went live, instead of dropping Armorite Ore, the Pokémon here dropped an invalid item (Dynite Ore, which was not coded into the game prior to the release of The Crown Tundra), which would crash the game upon defeating the raid den.[14][15] An update released later that day fixed the drop tables to include the correct item.

This event was not available temporarily from July 17 to 19, 2020.

June 17 to 28, 2020

Wild Area News banner

This event featured every Gigantamax Pokémon available at the time,[16] temporarily overriding the event from June 2 to 29, 2020.

To promote the release of The Isle of Armor, uncatchable Zeraora appeared in 3★ to 5★ raids. In 5★ raids, some Zeraora were also Shiny and more difficult to defeat. This represented Shiny Zeraora's first appearance. As an additional promotion, if at least 1 million players defeated Zeraora before the event ended, a Shiny Zeraora would be distributed via Pokémon HOME, and for every 100,000 players after that up to 2 million, each player would receive a piece of Armorite Ore (max. 10).[17]

On June 23, the official Japanese Pokémon Twitter account announced that the milestone for the Shiny Zeraora had been met.[18] The distribution awarded a total of 8 pieces of Armorite Ore.

April 28 to May 11, 2020

Wild Area News banner

Among other Pokémon, Tyranitar, Togekiss, Rotom, and Dragapult, as well as Excadrill and Whimsicott became available for this event.[20]

For a portion of April 28th (approximately the first 9 hours after the Wild Area News updated), 1★ Drilbur raids originating from Pokémon Shield came with the illegal move Hydro Pump.[21] The same raids for the rest of the event's duration, or hosted from Pokémon Sword, come with the correct move, Scratch. Players who caught a Drilbur with Hydro Pump cannot trade or battle online with it unless that move is deleted.
These erroneous Drilbur otherwise function like other Drilbur, and can evolve into Excadrill with Hydro Pump. Additionally, while Dynamaxed, these Drilbur and Excadrill also have access to Max Geyser, which is typically unobtainable as neither can legitimately learn any Water-type attacks.

Gigantamax Toxtricity, which do not normally appear in Max Raid Battles, became available for a limited time, with its Amped Form exclusive to raids hosted in Pokémon Sword and its Low Key Form exclusive to raids hosted in Pokémon Shield. Additionally, Gigantamax KinglerSw/OrbeetleSh, and GrimmsnarlSw/HattereneSh became more common for a limited time.[27] Unlike the Toxtricity available at higher ratings, Toxel found through this event can have any Nature, allowing them to potentially evolve into either form of Toxtricity regardless of the raid's game of origin.

This event was not available temporarily from February 27 to March 1, 2020.
