- If you were looking for the character whose name was misspelled Ricky in Pokémon Zany Cards, see Ritchie.
Ricky (Japanese: レイジ Reiji) is a self-proclaimed Psychic and a character of the day who appeared in Climbing the Tower of Success!.
In the anime
Ricky entered the Wishing Bell Festival contest along with Ash, Iris, Cilan, and Stephan. He was grouped with them in the first portion of the contest. He claims to be a psychic, but in reality, he was using his Elgyem's Psychic-type powers to get through most of the competition. Although, it was his cheating that helped the gang get through the quiz portion of the contest, since he used Elgyem to manipulate Miles's mind to get the right answer. He was the first to cross the finish line during the race across the lake portion because he used Elgyem's Psychic to simply float across.
During the dress-up and impersonation portion of the contest, Ricky was supposed to dress up as Officer Jenny while Elgyem was to dress up as Herdier. Again, he used Elgyem to make Miles think he looked exactly like her. He, Ash, and Stephan were last in the competition by the time they all had to climb the Mistralton Tower, all the while keeping their Litwick shaped candle lit. Ricky was the first to get to the top of the tower by use of Elgyem's Psychic again, but he was also the first to lose up there when a Pidove blew out his Litwick candle with Air Slash.
Ricky likes to believe his Elgyem's Psychic abilities are his own. He will even often make motions as if he is performing a move himself.
