In the anime
An Icium Z was first seen in Not Caving Under Pressure!, where it was given to Lillie by an Alolan Sandslash after she had helped driving off a wild Tyranitar that had tried to take over the cave inhabited by Sandslash and a group of Alolan Sandshrew. In Beauty is Only Crystal Deep!, the Ultra Guardians used it, along with Ash's Normalium Z, Grassium Z, Rockium Z, Solganium Z, and Steelium Z, as bait for a Pheromosa.
A full set of type-specific Z-Crystals, including the Icium Z, appeared in A Grand Debut!, where Hapu allowed Ash to choose his grand trial prize from them.
A full set of replicas of the type-specific Z-Crystals, including the Icium Z, appeared in A Team-on-Team Tussle!, where they were shown to Ash and his classmates by Professor Kukui.
