I'm gonna be stuck in Florida for about a week starting today, so I likely will have much less of a chance to do anything around here until next year begins.
Poli, Deth, Kogs, and evkl, you're all in charge of getting a flooded talk page questions from Bulbapedia's users for a week or so.
Anyway, I'll just leave a countdown here to my estimated return... which is on January 1, at midnight.
Have a good new year, guys, and enjoy that extra leap second we're getting! TTEchidna 09:18, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
*flaunts his magical ability to spam protected pages*
You may have to perform a hard-refresh to see it, but there's a sexy new UTC-time clock on the top bar. Bask in its glory. Click on its wonderful cache-purging functionality. And point to it as you ban poor userspace-abusing souls. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 20:44, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Could you shrink it to the same size as the other links up there, and put it over on the left side instead? It's nice though. TTEchidna 22:50, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
- Kogoro fixed the size. Don't know an quick and easy way to put it on the left, though. Wouldn't it run into problems with the site logo if it was on that side anyway? -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:01, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- I mean, you know, not TO the logo, but at the top of the page at the leftmost part of the actual page content, rather than the sidebar. TTEchidna 05:11, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah, in the portlet? It's possible to do that... wouldn't be as easy to see it IMO, if it was mixed in with the navigation and whatnot, but it might be doable.- EDIT: nvm, I see what you mean. Not sure about that, you could probably indent it, but that might not work with all screen resolutions. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:15, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- Hrm, ah well. Now if we can get a count of how many User: namespace edits someone's made during the current day... TTEchidna 05:18, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
- shame we can't do that. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:22, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

(ri): It's also possible to do the link I just posted in interwiki form (i.e., not an outside link). If I can figure that out, then you can just set it to look for BASEPAGENAME, and insert it into one of the sidebars, perhaps. Assuming it can be set to only show up on userpages. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 05:28, 30 December 2008 (UTC)
Really?
The number of daily User:
name space edits allowed has increased to 4? Chocolate (Chat with Me) 00:06, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Really. TTEchidna 00:09, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- That should be announced so people don't mess up (As much, I'm sure people will still be warned for 3 edits for a while). 00:12, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's been announced, just by being put here, you know. This is probably the most visited page onsite... TTEchidna 00:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yet I'm only here because it was in the Recent Changes. I don't visit here unless I see it in the recent changes or have a question, when I am just as likely to ask a different admin. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 00:18, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- I feel so hated now... TTEchidna 00:21, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Meh, I'm sure you'll get over it. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 00:23, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- You know, I bet, if I edited my page four times, I'd get warned, despite the new limit. That could be a good test. The Dark Fiddler - Nos hablamos? 00:24, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- People, including me (hopefully not!), will keep on warning people for some time with 3 edits, but I think the 4 edits rule is a nice bonus. And BTW, your new year counter tells me that the new year is after -18 hours - you might want to take it off. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 00:26, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

BTW, why are we only allowed 3 or 4 a day? --HoennMaster 08:30, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Because in previous years people have edited their own pages more than the mainspace. It was locked for several months last year, and the limit is a compromise. — THE TROM — 08:34, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Talk Pages
I noticed on many talk pages that you asked something that seems to be very interesting, yet not answered...has any of your questions been answered before? ht14 03:49, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Template
OK! we still got a lot of template to delete, We got Template:p, Template:m, Template:a, Template:an and the list goes on, c'mon TTE get goin'.--Force Fire talk 07:37, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- As I said. Those are used for many things. Legendary trios and the literal ghost, how many pages need that to be a link template? And SSBB. For the love of crap, how many pages link THERE? Link templates are not "let's make a shortened name for a template so I don't have to type". They're for multiple things with few exceptions.
p
is used for 493 different linkables on nearly EVERY page on this wiki. It's an essential. TTEchidna 07:53, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
The Candidates for protection list is getting a little long.. as well as some lazy templates popping up there. There's a difference between
(Since a lot of pages linked to the redirect page) and template:soa tale which is just lazy.. Gywall Talk 13:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes. The XD template is helpful slightly more because it isn't just the link. TTEchidna 19:57, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
Question....#2?
What's the difference between and ? I used them both by accident, and both came out to be the same... ht14 16:27, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- ...why are you calling my page as a template... Anyway, the colon before it is only a point if you're calling a main namespace page as a template versus calling a template. For example, vs Main Page. Which, though it looks the same, is different (the
Main Page
template actually causes the appearance of the actual Main Page through transclusion). - So yeah. In essence, though, I always call non-template namespaces with the colon in front, just so I know. TTEchidna 19:55, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

- Umm...still lost... ht14 20:01, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Using curly brackets instead of square ones calls a page as a template, as long as it's not in the main namespace (that requires a colon). TTEchidna 20:03, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- uses a page (by default in the Template namespace, unless otherwise specified) as a template, links to a page. would, when used on a page, include the whole content of the page User:TTEchidna as it was a template. Just a small thing to inform
I just thought that I'll inform you that I share the same IP (the 91.*.*.* one) with the user Toaums. This is just because of I don't want to get falsely banned for having two accounts; Toaums is my little brother. He has, though, not edited much. UltimateSephiroth (about me · chat · edits) 22:49, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's only if I find some odd reason to checkuser your IP. I have a few shared IPs... my sister and brother both have accounts. TTEchidna 03:34, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

I KNOW
there's a way we can get Bulbabot (or another bot) to do tedious redirecting work for us. TFwiki's bot, Deceptitran, does it all the time. If I get its creator to help me, can you change bulbabot and get it to do that for us? --((Marton imos)) 08:47, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- If I knew how to program ol' botty, I'd've done that. TTEchidna 23:04, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Ugh. Who can, aside from Zhen? --((Marton imos)) 23:17, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- I'll ask... Perhaps even learn how to myself. I know some C++, and I think Botty uses C#. TTEchidna 23:32, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

Double-Edge and other recoil moves
A couple days ago I popped onto Bulbapedia and was looking around at the different types when I noticed that the moves Double-Edge, Brave Bird, Flare Blitz, and Wood Hammer all had 1/4 listed as their recoil damage. I went about correcting them to 1/3 because that is what I believe it to be (Personal experience and Nintendo Power guides) and a member posted on my Talk wall saying I should contact you about it. I've put up some stuff on the Double-Edge talk page as well about what I think it should be changed to and I was wondering if you could take a look at it. Fensti 18:29, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I've tested it myself, and you're absolutely correct. Just remember you don't need to put your name after the four tildes: they bring up your signature anyway. TTEchidna 23:04, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
- It's no problem, just doing my job to make sure everything is right, and I'll keep that in mind in the future. Fensti 01:06, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Side game alternate form templates
I'm making some templates to demonstrate the form differences in side games. Apparently there are none in Pinball R/S. Also, the jury is still out for some of the PMD2ers (Deoxys, Castform and Cherrim) and Deoxys in Trozei. So here are the ones that I've done though.
- PMD2 Unown: Template:Side game/Dungeon2yes/28formes
- PMD2 Burmy/Wormadam: Template:Side game/Dungeon2yes/3formes
- PMD2 Shellos/Gastrodon: Template:Side game/Dungeon2yes/2formes

Change a user from none to abuse
Missingyes has ignored warnings to stop editing the userspace. I protected his userpage. Could you change his status from none to abuse? --ケンジのガール 22:25, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
- Done and done. Next time, though, could you just protect the person's page for, say, a week, so that we don't have to come back and unprotect it manually? TTEchidna 22:32, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
2 More Questions
- You know what happened with Missingyes. How would this process work with admins who abuse privileges at userpages?
- What's the difference between <!-- and <includeonly>? ht14
- Well, depends on what you mean. If it's about me, specifically, I only edit userpages very often because I'm often doing a project I wanna keep outta the mainspace so far. If it's not regarding that, they'd likely get a talking to (as admins, they're a lot more accountable than regular joes off the street who come here just for userpages), and in extreme cases, may lose powah. And the difference between those tags are that includeonly works so that when a page is used as a template, the stuff between those tags appears, but does not appear on the template page. Noinclude is the reverse. The thing with the exclamation comments out whatever it is. TTEchidna 23:30, 4 January 2009 (UTC)
Minor edits
I think we should have some sort of policy about minor edits. I know some users who mark almost all of their edits as minor, while some other users (such as myself) tend to stick with this. Now, if new users see an edit marked as minor that adds a lot of bytes to a page, and sees one not marked as minor that adds a lot of bytes to a page, it could confuse them. Therefore, I think we should have an official policy about minor edits. What do you think? Chocolate (Chat with Me) 01:26, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Be careful, that violates this. But to answer you, I already said it: We don't wanna confuse new users. Chocolate (Chat with Me) 01:29, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Rexracer is correct. Who really does care? This is not important, at all. minoring edits is a personal preference, not a policy, or else the minor all edits feature wouldn't be in every single users own preferences. You are just nit-picking at other people over such minimal, useless things that have nothing to do with anything. This has happened countless times again and again (expect a comment on your talk page over this.) Not everyone has to do exactly as you do. Some things... you got to just let go. Also, rexracer was using all caps for emphasis and not yelling. No problem done. MaverickNate 01:35, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- If it was personal preference, there wouldn't be anything about it on Wikipedia. Chocolate (Chat with Me) 01:37, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Yes there is. Chocolate (Chat with Me) 01:39, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

- How about we hold back on this discussion until TTE actually gets a chance to read it? I can't foresee much discussion here beyond back-and-forth argument about Wikipedia's policies, which really doesn't have much to do with us.
- I apologize if I'm acting like I hate you at all, Chocolate. Remember that this is the internet; it's very easy to take things out of context. I don't believe Maverick or Rex are expressing any hatred towards you, they merely disagree with your opinion. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 01:47, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- The thing is. It does not matter. And we do not hate you. MaverickNate
(resetting indent) Mav: If you don't hate me, why do you act like you do? Chocolate (Chat with Me) 01:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Geo: I wasn't referring to you anyway when I was asking why people were acting like they hated me. Chocolate (Chat with Me) 01:52, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- This was all to proove a point. You fixed every single problem that I have changed, otherwise... the nit-picking. Not everyone has to do the same exact orderly fashion you have to do, and you shouldn't complain to people about it. You think everything you do is right, and when someone does the same thing differently, or tries to modify what you do in any way, you yell and/or question them. This happens all the time, every single time. When evkl reverted you today, you questioned him. When Martonimos didn't put the archive description on Ash's Charizard's talk, you had to change it to what you do. You had to complain to Geo for the minor edit thing for days, and when you decided you were getting no where, you went to TTE. You have made up rules in order to stop people from reverting you (which failed), you became a nazi on the archives because SOMEONE WAS UPLOOADING A JPG ANIME SCREENSHOT!!!! HE MUST BE DEALT WITH!!!And even now, you've added my timestamp whenever I purposefully didn't put it on, and chjanged the colons I screwed up on purpose. Moral of the story? Not everyone has to do everything exactly as you have done. Let people do what they feel they should. Don't question everything everyone does that isn't exactly what you do, or is a revert of something that you have edited. These things you have nit-picked are not important and have no concern about anything. So lay off other peoples' cases, and let the cards fall as they may. Not everything has to be the same as you. MaverickNate 02:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Guys, I'm gonna have to agree with RexRacer. Who cares? Minor edits, major edits, I don't click the button anyway. All it does is help hide stuff on RC if you click "Hide minor edits". And who does that? I check over everything. Only thing that'd be good for really is trying to hide vandalism. It's pointless to argue about. Seriously. Also, plz no nitpicking, that's my job. Move-protection
Can the main characters be moved-protected to sysop? I think it is within reason to do this so that some vandal doesn't come along and move them. Wanted Pages and Images
I was browsing the list of Wanted Pages to see if there was any I could kill, and noticed a lot of images. In each case, the issue is with the images being linked to on talk pages like :Image:000.png
as opposed to a:Image:000.png
, which is how img
deals with them. Mind going through and changing them so they drop off the list? I'd do it myself but most pages are protected anyway. Gywall Talk 15:19, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

- Personally, the bullet vs. the vertical bar doesn't matter. I just wanted people to timestamp peoples' unsigned comments with the template. Kogoro has pointed out that this is possible. If so, then it isn't changes that are needed to the template, (which I thought it would mean) it is just how it is carried out. Template:Mart item icon sprites
Now in case you haven't checked the talk recently, I've wanted to add icon sprites next to every item, though I want to avoid anyone having to manually put an image link in. So, I've tried to derive the image link straight from the item name provided, however I've noticed that the format many images are named by have many variants.
In which case, I'm just wondering whether it would be wise to make a similar switch to what I did with Trainerexp, and match every item name to their images? Would this solution slow down the server in any way (since changing it would affect every page it was linked to)? Or, the other alternative that Laoris suggested, was to individually move all the images that are named in different formats to the same format, then correcting all broken links... unless there's a way to create redirects for images?
Also, do you think it might be good to introduce some extra parserfunctions which may be useful in the future, such as ? (I'm not sure whether you have access to installing them or not) -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 00:19, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Eck, I dunno about doing that. In all honesty, I've been wanting to round up all the item sprites and set them to proper names. And make them all pngs. Cough Coin Case. Standardize something, like make them Image:Bag (item name).png or something. TTEchidna 00:28, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think it'd be a good idea to standardize item sprites and items in general. Is it possible to do image redirects? — Laoris (Blah) 04:14, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Image redirects, yes, on the archives. I was thinking instead we begin by reuploading, though, then deleting the old one and redirecting the filename to the new one. TTEchidna 04:22, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. Do you want us to do it? How should the images be named? — Laoris (Blah) 04:35, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Tomorrow I'll tell you, after getting a consensus from the others. Personally, I'd say that they should be at Bag (item name).png meaning that the DeepSeaTooth should be at File:Bag DeepSeaTooth.png. But wait until I give you the go. It shouldn't interfere, but we'll talk it over JUST IN CASE. TTEchidna 04:45, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

- Wouldn't that also mean you'd have to go through and correct every broken image link? But reuploading all of them to a standard name will definitely solve the item icon sprite problem.
- However, I've noticed that some people have been going round changing and correcting all the redirecting links in the mart templates to their proper ones, which will definitely screw up the eventual code to derive the image from the item name... must they correct the links? -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 15:48, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

- Examples: small bullet • small square ▪ larger bullet ● larger square ■ random text
- Perhaps the small bullet would be good for dividers, it's even got a keystroke, so anyone who can remember how to type the accented é can probably remember how to do the bullets as well... -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 10:11, 14 January 2009 (UTC)
- With the size of the bullets, it's simply to do with resolutions, more recent resolutions, especially on the latest monitors, will have huge resolutions, making the bullets look tiny, as it does on mine, which is at 1280 x 1024 px. If you ask me, the small bullet that Jio gave above looks good, we could stick it on the Character pallette perhaps? Otherwise simply bolding the normal one could work.

Images floating right confliction
Template:Infobox town I've noticed that images set to float right conflict with Infoboxes, and end up below the Infobox instead, while dragging all the "edit" links with them (except in IE), as well as anything else set to float left, which looks horrible. I've had a test play with the coding, and I think there's a clear or something somewhere within the Image template, so the only solution I can find to this is to contain the image (which must be set to position "none") in a manually coded div styled to float:right, thus restricting the clear in the Image to work only within the div, and the image will float right properly against the Infobox. Is there another way to fix this? Though it'd probably mean taking a look at and tampering with the source code for the Image: template.
To show you what I'm talking about:
- Image is inserted here

Section - but where's the edit link? If you're not using IE that is (and don't start)
Section - this one's gone too!

Subsection - still no edit link! D:
- But look, image in floating right div inserted here
<div style="float:right; margin-left: 15px;"></div>

Sections below retain their "edit" links
And so do subsections :)
Anyway, some examples:
- Lavender Town - all the "edit" links have been dragged down to the Generation II image
- Twinleaf Town - whereas here, I've manually placed the image in a div, so now it floats correctly against the Infobox
And uh, sorry for the lengthy expansion to your talk page P= -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 07:50, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
- I get what you mean. It's not my fault, really, and I don't have any control over the crappiness of the wiki software... that'd be a better thing to take up with the developers in charge... I'll ask, point to this discussion, and all I can, but the most we'd likely get is an extension that fixes that possibly or we'll wait for MediaWiki to develop something regarding it. - Oh yeah, I'm not blaming you or anything, it's definitely not your fault, I'm just wondering whether there actually is a better way to fix it, like an Image: template or something that can be edited? Otherwise, perhaps it's actually a conflict between the image wikicode and the table wikicode which holds the Infobox... There could be a way around this, perhaps if all the Infoboxes were converted to divs instead of using wikicode tables, though that might be overdoing it a bit, or I could just code a template with a float right div, to apply to images to float right correctly...? But thanks for considering the problem. Has anyone else mentioned about this before? -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 10:21, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Oh and uh, by the way
I propose an improved Pokelist
template design which can be applied to other similar templates. What do you think? -–<×vVvvv τλικ to ς1tHςι4γ3r ^^vVv×>–- 13:42, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
