As a Cyndaquil, it partnered up with {{Special|Gold}} to fight {{Special|Silver}} when he stole [[Professor Elm]]'s {{TP|Silver|Totodile}}. Gold kept it afterwards and nicknamed it "Explotaro". Explotaro evolved into a Quilava at the Goldenrod Daycare Center, and later evolved into its final stage, Typhlosion, battling Lugia at the Whirl Islands. As a Typhlosion, it gave Gold the upper hand while fighting the [[Mask of Ice]] at the end of the GSC arc. Around the end of the Emerald arc, it learns {{m|Blast Burn}}, which it used against [[Guile Hideout]].
