Explotaro (Japanese: バクたろう Baktaro) was one of the Pokémon that Gold has received in the Pokémon Adventures manga.
History
As a Cyndaquil, it partnered up with Gold to fight Silver when he stole Professor Elm's Totodile. Gold kept it afterwards and nicknamed it "Explotaro". Explotaro evolved into a Quilava at the Goldenrod Daycare Center, and later evolved into its final stage, Typhlosion, battling Lugia at the Whirl Islands. As a Typhlosion, it gave Gold the upper hand while fighting the Mask of Ice at the end of the GSC arc. Around the end of the Emerald arc, it learns Blast Burn, which it used against Guile Hideout.
