(Japanese: エレン Ellen) is a character of the day who appeared in Mild 'n Wooly.
Ellen is Mary's mother, who lives with her on a Mareep ranch in a valley between Violet City and Azalea Town. When Ash, Misty, and Brock came to visit, they were preparing for the annual Mareep Festival.
She originally seemed quite strict, scolding her daughter for letting the Mareep escape, and even scaring Ash's Pikachu. She would not let Mary compete in the festival, saying she was too young and careless of Fluffy's condition to enter. However, after seeing Mary's battle abilities and strategies against Team Rocket, she changed her mind. The next morning, she presented her daughter with her old Poké Ball and gave her permission to compete.
