The eighth TCG Series, the HeartGold & SoulSilver TCG Series, was the Series that maintained the steady flow of TCG merchandise during the year of 2010, until the release of Call of Legends. Throughout the year, a variety of products, ranging from Collector's Tins to Theme Decks and Blister Packs, were released in order to promote the card game, and ultimately, the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver video games. Below is a chronological list of all merchandise items released during the HeartGold & SoulSilver TCG Series.
HeartGold & SoulSilver Theme Decks
The first promotional product released during this Series were the preconstructed Theme Decks for the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion on February 10, 2010. This expansion featured three different decks—Growth Clash, Ember Spark, and Mind Flood—featuring the three final evolutions of the Johto first partner Pokémon. Each 60 card deck featured an additional type: Growth Clash with the Fighting-type, Ember Spark with the Lightning-type, and Mind Flood with the Psychic-type. Each Theme Deck contained a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, a custom coin, one single-player mat, and a deckbox.

HeartGold & SoulSilver Blisters
The HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion brought additional Three Pack Blisters and Two Pack Blisters in order to promote the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Released with the set and Theme Decks on February 10, 2010, four different promotional cards were made available within the three different products. The Three Pack Blisters have two varieties: one with a Pikachu promotional card, and one with a Wobbuffet promotional card. These Blisters also include two HeartGold & SoulSilver booster packs, one Legends Awakened pack, and a coin featuring either Shieldon or Cranidos, a coin first released in the Mysterious Treasures Theme Decks. The Two Pack Blister featured the Noctowl evolutionary line, with both a Hoothoot promotional card and a Noctowl promotional card in Cosmos Holofoil prints, one HeartGold & SoulSilver booster pack, and one POP Series 9 booster pack.

HS Trainer Kit
In order to teach beginning players how to play the Pokémon Trading Card Game, Trainer Kits with two pre-constructed Half Decks are released. Released alongside the Unleashed expansion on May 12, 2010, were a collection of Blister Packs to promote the expansion. Included in the Three Pack Blisters were a Black Star Promotional Latios or Latias. These Blister Packs included 2 Unleashed booster packs, 1 from the Stormfront expansion, and a coin. Also released was a Two Pack Blister featuring both Cleffa and Smoochum. Released within the Two Pack Blister was an Unleashed pack and a pack from POP Series 9.

Undaunted Theme Decks
Released with the Undaunted expansion on August 18, 2010 were two Theme Decks, named Daybreak and Nightfall, featuring Eevee's evolutions: Espeon and Umbreon specifically. In addition to the Psychic and Darkness types, the Daybreak Theme Deck featured Grass Pokémon and the Nightfall Theme Deck featured Metal Pokémon. Each Theme Deck contained a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, a custom coin, one single-player mat, and a deckbox. Additionally, starting with the Undaunted expansion, Theme Decks were packaged with a booster pack from the expansion.

Undaunted Blisters
The release of Undaunted brought the addition of two new Three Pack Blisters and one new Two Pack Blister. Released August 18, 2010 alongside the expansion, the Three Pack Blisters featured either Lapras or Shuckle as a promotional card, two Undaunted booster packs, an Arceus booster pack, and a coin featuring either Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile, originating from the HeartGold & SoulSilver Theme Decks. Included in the Two Pack Blister were exclusive Plusle and Minun Black Star Promotional cards. The two promotional cards originally appeared in the Unleashed expansion, but are printed in the packs as exclusive Black Star Promos with Cracked Ice Holofoil. The Two Pack Blister included an Undaunted booster pack and a POP Series 9 booster pack.

Player's Collection
Released during the month of September 2010 was the Player's Collection, a box that repackaged older material in order to make room for newer merchandise. The Player's Collection Boxes contained one Theme Deck from either the Diamond & Pearl Series or the Platinum Series, and 3 booster packs originating from any expansions as far back as the EX Series. Two varieties were released: one featuring an exclusive Cracked Ice Holofoil print of the Gyarados from the HeartGold & SoulSilver expansion, and one featuring an exclusive Cracked Ice Holofoil print of the Magmortar from the Unleashed expansion.

Fall 2010 Collector's Tins
One month after the release of the Undaunted expansion, the Fall 2010 Collector's Tins were released in September 2010. These tins included exclusive Shiny versions of the legendary beasts: Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. Each tin included the Shiny Black Star Promotional card, as well as an exclusive Cracked Ice Holofoil print of the most recent TCG releases of these Pokémon from the Secret Wonders expansion in order to show the differences between Shiny Pokémon and regular Pokémon. Each tin included an Undaunted pack, a HeartGold & SoulSilver pack, a Platinum Series pack, and a Diamond & Pearl Series pack.

Triumphant Theme Decks
The last release of Theme Decks for the HeartGold & SoulSilver Series was for the Triumphant expansion on November 2, 2010. The two Theme Decks, named Verdant Frost and Royal Guard, feature the Twin Tusk Pokémon Mamoswine and the Drill Pokémon Nidoking, respectively. The Verdant Frost Theme Deck features Grass and Water Pokémon and contains the Palkia coin previously released during the Diamond & Pearl Series. Royal Guard features Psychic and Fighting Pokémon and contains the Dialga coin previously released during the Diamond & Pearl Series. Each Theme Deck also contains a rulebook, damage counters, status counters, one single-player mat, and a deckbox. Continuing the trend that started during the Undaunted expansion, each deck also contained 1 booster pack from the main expansion.

2010 World Championships Decks
Released in November 2010, shortly after the 2010 World Championships, were the 2010 World Championships Decks. These four decks (LuxChomp of the Spirit, Happy Luck, Power Cottonweed, Boltevoir) were the decks used by the Masters Division Champion, Seniors Division Finalist, Juniors Division Champion, and the Masters Division Finalist, respectively. Each Deck comes with a Worlds 2010 themed Deckbox, a booklet about the championships, and a non tournament legal print of the sixty card deck.

World Collection
The World Collection is a promotional box based on the Japanese Pikachu World 2010 promotional collection released in conjunction with the Japanese release of the Clash at the Summit expansion. The English box was released during the month of November 2010 after the release of the 2010 World Championships Decks. Each World Collection contained one of the four World Championship Decks as well as a special collection of Pikachu promotional cards in nine different languages-English, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Polish, and Portuguese—the nine languages that the card game was printed in at the time. Each print features artwork reminiscent of each of the languages the card is printed in.

Clash of Legends
The Clash of Legends boxes were released in the month of November 2010. The box came in two varieties: one featuring Darkrai and Cresselia, and another featuring Dialga and Palkia, as both a Pokémon LEGEND Jumbo promotional card and individual Pokémon LV.X cards. Each box contained four booster packs: one from Unleashed, one from Arceus, one from Supreme Victors, and one from Rising Rivals.

The HeartGold & SoulSilver Knock Out Collection was a repackaging promotional box released sometime near the end of the HeartGold & Soulsilver Series exclusively at Rite Aid pharmacies. These boxes contained a promotional card, as well as three booster packs. The promotional cards were Ho-Oh or Lugia HGSS Promotional card previously available in the HeartGold & SoulSilver Poster Packs. The three booster packs were initially from Undaunted, Supreme Victors, and Rising Rivals, but later issues of this product contained different packs ranging from Mysterious Treasures to Call of Legends.

HeartGold & SoulSilver Variety Blister
Released in order to move older product, stores began carrying the HeartGold & SoulSilver Variety Blisters by the time of the Black & White Series. These Blister Packs contained 3 random booster packs from as early as the Diamond & Pearl Series as well as a Holofoil Pikachu Promotional card previously released in the HeartGold & SoulSilver Blisters. Due to the versatility of the product, however, the included promotional card become less standardized over time, and the product began to include cards such as Theme Deck exclusive Holofoils instead of the intended Pikachu.
