'''Eruption''' (Japanese: '''ふんか''' ''Eruption'') is a damage-dealing {{type|Fire}} [[move]] introduced in [[Generation III]].  It is a [[move variations|variation]] of {{m|Water Spout}} and can be considered the inverse of {{m|Reversal}} and {{m|Flail}}.

==Effect==
==Effect==
Eruption does damage proportionately based on the user's HP. This move's base power reduces as the user's HP reduces and is calculated by the formula:
Eruption deals damage. It has 150 base power at maximum HP, but its base power decreases proportionally to the user's remaining HP.

[[File:Eruption Water Spout formula.png]]
Specifically, its base power is equal to <math>\bigg\lfloor \frac{150 \times HP_{current}}{ HP_{max} } \bigg\rfloor</math>. However, if this formula produces a value less than 1, the move's base power becomes 1 instead.

Hence, at maximum HP (100% HP), the move's base power would be 150.
In a battle with multiple opponents, Eruption targets all adjacent opponents. Eruption will also destroy [[Natural object|round rocks]] found in the background of {{pkmn|battle}}s.

In a [[Double Battle]], Eruption will hit both opponents. In a [[Triple Battle]], Eruption will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.
Eruption can be used as the second move of a [[Contest combination|Pokémon Contest combination]], with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point if {{m|Earthquake}}, {{m|Endure}}, or {{m|Sunny Day}} was used in the previous turn.

Eruption will also destroy [[natural objects|round rocks]] found in the background of {{pkmn|battle}}s.

===[[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series]]===
Eruption deals damage, with its power reduced the lower the user's HP. In the [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team|Rescue Team]] and [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness|Explorers]] series, the final damage is multiplied by ½ when at 75-51% HP, 51/256 (~0.2×) when at 50-26% and 25/256 (~0.1×) when at 25% or lower. In {{pkmn|Super Mystery Dungeon}}, the power reduces proportionally to the user's HP. When used by a [[Gigantic Pokémon]] in Super Mystery Dungeon, Eruption hits all enemies in the room.

A very appealing move, but after using this move, the user is more easily startled.

Eruption (Japanese: ふんか Eruption) is a damage-dealing Fire-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Eruption deals damage. It has 150 base power at maximum HP, but its base power decreases proportionally to the user's remaining HP.

Specifically, its base power is equal to . However, if this formula produces a value less than 1, the move's base power becomes 1 instead.

In a battle with multiple opponents, Eruption targets all adjacent opponents. Eruption will also destroy round rocks found in the background of battles.

Eruption can be used as the second move of a Pokémon Contest combination, with the user gaining 1 bonus appeal point if Earthquake, Endure, or Sunny Day was used in the previous turn.

Description

Games Description
RSEColoXD The higher the user's HP, the more damage caused.
FRLG The higher the user's HP, the more powerful this attack becomes.

Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series

Eruption deals damage, with its power reduced the lower the user's HP. In the Rescue Team and Explorers series, the final damage is multiplied by ½ when at 75-51% HP, 51/256 (~0.2×) when at 50-26% and 25/256 (~0.1×) when at 25% or lower. In Super Mystery Dungeon, the power reduces proportionally to the user's HP. When used by a Gigantic Pokémon in Super Mystery Dungeon, Eruption hits all enemies in the room.
