Also, if you figure that Rugia -> Lugia, Ratiosu -> Latios, Ratiosu -> Latias, and even Deoxys, chances are Lucario will be the English name. Okay, someone needs to clear this up. Since I have Brawl, and I play Lucario almost exclusively, I'll post his special moves:
:B: Aura Sphere. Charge-up ranged attack (like Samus' Charge Beam). Like most of Lucario's attacks, it gets stronger as he takes damage.
:Side-B: Force Palm. Very short-ranged beam-like attack; changes to a stronger attack when an opponent is inside Grab range (Lucario actually grabs the opponent before slugging them, and I'm pretty sure the grab from the close-up hits will pass through Shields).
:Up-B: Extremespeed. Similar to the Star Fox characters' Up-B moves, only it does no damage and you have some control over Lucario's movement after he starts moving (oddly, Pikachu's Quick Attack does damage even though it's weaker than Extremespeed in the Pokémon games).
:Down-B: Double Team. A counter move that lasts about 4-5 seconds; If anyone attacks Lucario during the first 1-2 seconds of the move, Lucario will teleport behind them and do a sliding kick (like Mario's running Side-A attack). Moves won't be countered during the last 2-3 seconds of the move.
:Final Smash: Aura Storm. Lucario shouts "Watch the power of Aura" (or something like that) and jumps up into the air, damaging any enemies in his path. He floats in midair while charging the attack, then fires a large beam that lasts for about 10 seconds; the beam can be aimed before it's fired, and it can be moved during the attack's duration (moves slowly, though).
Hopefully this will clear up any confusion about his special moves in SSBB. Diachronos 23:34, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

== Rechanging something in Trivia ==
It says in the Trivia that "Lucario is the first Fighting-type Pokémon to be a fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series." But isn't it also the first Steel-Type pokemon that's a fighter in Super Smash Bros.?
Well it isn't as significant because Lucario is the first fighting type in a fighting game.Shadow1337 18:00, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
== Aura Sphere Contradiction ==
Why is it that aura sphere is never surpose to miss in the Pokemon games but can easily miss in Brawl? Even Lucario's trophy says it never misses.
:Swift can miss because people dodge it, too. It's Brawl! <span style="color:#FF0000">TTE</span>chidna 00:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
:The so-called "never miss" moves hardly ever hit in the Anime either. And the designers seem to have forgotten what "Will never miss" means since Generation I; Before Generation II, Swift would hit an opponent even if it was using Dig or Fly, but it wouldn't hit anyone who was using moves like that from Generation II onward! == Name origin ==
Since my former ideas are completely unrelated, I've deleted them <small>(if you're curious, just check the recent history)</small>. The thing is, after much brainstorming and an accidental look at a Yu-Gi-Oh pic, I finally found the origin of Lucario's name. It's part of the word orichalcum with the kana in reverse. <small>(Note: In the following explanation, silent letters will be italicized)</small> While the standard Japanese spelling is オリハルコン (orichalcon), the latin form is written as オリカルクム (orichalcum), which in reverse is ムクルカリオ (muculuchario), then we take out the first two kana and get ルカリオ (luchario) or simply Lucario. The name makes sense, given Lucario's ancient/mythological design basis, and more particularly, its Steel type. So, if there aren't any objections, I'll be adding my theory as a main explanation. An easier wording would help, though. --Kaoz 01:41, 4 September 2008 (UTC)

What would be a good place to add these details? Perhaps under Special Abilities is a good place to mention Lucario is capable of Mega Evolution, and I'll try my hand at a physiological description:
:In its Mega Evolution, streaks of black fur now run across Lucario's body as a result of its increased aura energy, and its fur color fades to red along its hands and feet. There is an additional metal spike on each forepaw, smaller and located higher along the wrist, and its feet are now adorned with similar spikes; the black rings around Lucario's shoulders also bear small spikes as well. Lucario's cream-colored torso fur has spread across its shoulders and tail, which is now thickly furred (similar in appearance to Flareon's tail). The four appendages draped on the back of its head have lengthened considerably, now resembling a set of ribbons or streamers, two of which are red at the tips.

Gender?
Well, since the link won't work...one of the new scans has Lucario as being a male Pokemon. -Sketchies 17:42, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Lucario? Rukario?
I see most places refering to this Pokémon as "Rukario", but we're calling it Lucario. Anyone explain the name differences?
Hepburn Romaji has Rukario. The trademark filings and logical thinking (what's Rukario backwards? Orikaru - Oracle) have Lucario. - 刘 (劉) 振霖 10:49, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hey now that we got the full imaqge up at BMG of Rukario..why don't we upload it here? I'd do it but I don't know how to show an image on here.LedianX 14:59, 5 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Also, if you figure that Rugia -> Lugia, Ratiosu -> Latios, Ratiosu -> Latias, and even Deoxys, chances are Lucario will be the English name. But I fall back on "Lucario" being the spelling applied for trademark. --Meowth346
I'd like to point out that "orikaru" doesn't mean anything in Japanese. Oracle = Orakuru. Noxaengelus 07:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
Wave-Guiding?
Where does this "wave-guiding" species come from? Since day one, I've been translating its species as "Pulse" or "Surge". Is there something I've been missing? --Meowth346
I think this is another blame Serebii.net moment, probably. - Ferret
It has to do with the kanji. Hadou (波動) is indeed "pulse" or "surge" (literally "wave movement"), but the title of the movie, which we assume uses the same word as Rukario's species, has 波導, which is not a word, and the second kanji of which means "guide" or "lead". - Murgatroyd 00:00, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Could Lucario be an evolution of Marowak? I know it may seem nuts as it isn't ground, but maybe this is what an unmasked Marowak looks like. They both center around death, have Bone Rush, and have the same general body shape (though Lucario is snazzier with spikes and all.) --123456789
It is nuts! It's more ridiculuos than the theory of Lotad's lily pad unfolding to reveal a a dinosaur-like head.--Pokencyclopedia 10:55, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
Yeah...how could people have forgotten that the skull-helmet on a Marowak magically makes its skin turn from blue to brown, and makes it shrink? Diachronos 23:41, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
Just pick a name and stick with it
Please stop switching the attack name back and forth from 'Feint' to 'Faint'. It's going nowhere - I would encourage that this issue be discussed, rather than people editing back and forth between the two forever. --Pie 13:40, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- It's definitely Feint. It's obvious from the attack description. Just because Faint Attack (which I firmly believe is a misspelling on the part of NoA, the Japanese means surprise attack or sneak attack, feint is a better fit than faint) exists and is similar... - 振霖T 13:54, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Faint Attack always confused me. I knew the description of the attack was like feint, but the word faint unconsciously makes me think the attacking Pokémon fakes passing out to trick the opponent. --Argy 16:28, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- I always figured it had something to do with the Pokémon vanishing into the shadows, as it seems to do in the animation - basically, its image becomes faint. --Pie 19:18, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, but the attack description on that says, "Draws the foe close, then strikes without fail.", so I really have no idea what the animation is supposed to mean. - 振霖T 06:26, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, in Pokémon Stadium 2, the animation for Faint Attack is merely Double Team plus the user's taunt pose.

Okay, someone needs to clear this up. Since I have Brawl, and I play Lucario almost exclusively, I'll post his special moves:
- B: Aura Sphere. Charge-up ranged attack (like Samus' Charge Beam). Like most of Lucario's attacks, it gets stronger as he takes damage.
- Side-B: Force Palm. Very short-ranged beam-like attack; changes to a stronger attack when an opponent is inside Grab range (Lucario actually grabs the opponent before slugging them, and I'm pretty sure the grab from the close-up hits will pass through Shields).
- Up-B: Extremespeed. Similar to the Star Fox characters' Up-B moves, only it does no damage and you have some control over Lucario's movement after he starts moving (oddly, Pikachu's Quick Attack does damage even though it's weaker than Extremespeed in the Pokémon games).
- Down-B: Double Team.
- Final Smash: Aura Storm.
A possible mistake.
"This makes it the first non-legendary Pokémon to be in a central role in a Pokémon movie."
If I'm not mistaken, weren't the Unown the central focus of the third movie? I could be wrong about that, so I didn't make any alterations to the line I quoted. Eeveeman133 09:00, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Nah, Entei was. Though... eh, you do have us with that one. I think it's pretty much that before LMM came out everyone figured Lucario was legendary, but with P3 everyone was like "Oh, Entei, we know that's legendary and Unown's that piece of crap that comes in 26 flavors." TTEchidna 09:09, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

Rechanging something in Trivia
It says in the Trivia that "Lucario is the first Fighting-type Pokémon to be a fighter in the Super Smash Bros. series." But isn't it also the first Steel-Type pokemon that's a fighter in Super Smash Bros.?
Well it isn't as significant because Lucario is the first fighting type in a fighting game.Shadow1337 18:00, 13 October 2008 (UTC)
Aura Sphere Contradiction
Why is it that aura sphere is never surpose to miss in the Pokemon games but can easily miss in Brawl? Even Lucario's trophy says it never misses.
- Swift can miss because people dodge it, too. It's Brawl! TTEchidna 00:20, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- The so-called "never miss" moves hardly ever hit in the Anime either. And the designers seem to have forgotten what "Will never miss" means since Generation I; Before Generation II, Swift would hit an opponent even if it was using Dig or Fly, but it wouldn't hit anyone who was using moves like that from Generation II onward! Name origin
Since my former ideas are completely unrelated, I've deleted them (if you're curious, just check the recent history). The thing is, after much brainstorming and an accidental look at a Yu-Gi-Oh pic, I finally found the origin of Lucario's name. It's part of the word orichalcum with the kana in reverse. (Note: In the following explanation, silent letters will be italicized) While the standard Japanese spelling is オリハルコン (orichalcon), the latin form is written as オリカルクム (orichalcum), which in reverse is ムクルカリオ (muculuchario), then we take out the first two kana and get ルカリオ (luchario) or simply Lucario.

- In its Mega Evolution, streaks of black fur now run across Lucario's body as a result of its increased aura energy, and its fur color fades to red along its hands and feet.
