Mr. Cheeves

Mr. Cheeves (Japanese: カリニン Karinin) is a character of the day who appeared in Two Degrees of Separation!, as James's butler.

Cheeves is part of the staff at James's second summer home in Sinnoh. Upon arriving after having a battle with Pikachu, Dawn, and Piplup, and finding his Carnivine, James summoned Cheeves with a food order for himself, Jessie, and Meowth.

Once on the scene, however, Mr. Cheeves innocuously revealed that he had contacted James's parents about his arrival. As a result, they and Jessebelle would be arriving the next day, having expressed their eagerness to reunite with him. Consequently, it ruined Team Rocket's plans of making the summer home their base of operations in Sinnoh.

  • He is the only one of James's butlers to be named in the original Japanese.
  • Mr. Cheeves' name is likely a corruption of "Jeeves", the name of the valet from British author P.G. Wodehouse's Jeeves series of novels and short stories; the name would become a generic one used to refer to valets and butlers.
